Oprah Sues 3 Utah Companies - KSTU

Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Mehmet Oz have sued three Utah companies, saying they had used their names and images to sell nutritional supplements without permission.

I'm sure that MonaVie is involved in more unethical behavior than just appropriating Oprah's and Dr.Oz's names.I went to their conference recently,and I was appalled.They had a Manipulative, Loud,Thumping presentation in progress,and there were INFANTS present! Even to my untrained eye,this is obviously an unethical business scheme.I asked about selling the juice,and they were saying"Oh,You Share it"!Some claimed to be making $1700.00/mo on this. There was deception galore,and the promise of a free Virtual Office and "self-improvement"ed ucation(that seemed to be an instruction in deceiving others).There is a pseudo-Christian angle,as well as the use of the Basic Human tendency to 'want to belong'(and other psychological tricks) that are being used. Also,I'm sure the acai fad is NOT doing the Rainforest or the Indiginous Peoples any favors.I hope the proper authorities look into this as soon as possible.

The use of celebrity faces and statements is well-known a contract is necessary to use them. This is how they are paid... "being recognized." I'm relieved to see our laws are doing something positive to protect their rights, and as a result, our rights.
