Thanks Tom. Your support and your dogged determination to rid the Roman Catholic church of this blight is a blessing to all who have survived this abuse. Now that this issue has been exposed to the masses, laws must be changed to protect future generations and to hold those who have destroyed so many liable for their actions. After you complete this task, why not expose the Roman Catholic church to the biggest scandal of all? False teaching. Until the whole world hears and justice is served for all, Kurt Gladsky, Founder: Christian Brothers Sexual Abuse Survivors Network, Towson Maryland, Delray Beach Florida

The spotlight on the sex scandals illuminates the next big scandal, sloppy and unaccountable Church finances. Stories are bleeding out in the press all over the country about slipshod parrochial and diocesan handling of money. The laity need absolute financial transparency from their leaders, who cavalierly forget that is the people's money. If the folks at St. Bernadine's or any place are going to fork over $1.5 mil to the archdiocese they should also demand a financial report that would pass muster under an accountant's eyes. Long before the abuse payouts Roger Mahoney spent the archdiocese into oblivion with his beautiful but wasteful cathedral. American Catholics are the most generous in the world. That goodwill deserves a structure of accountability commensurate with their generosity. The abuse scandal has cost the clergy and hierarchy dearly in terms of confidence in their sexual mores. When realization of the rampant fiscal shenanigans hits home, their confidence in their handling of money will dry up along with their contributions.

If the problem with sexual crimes by priests in the USA, where society is pretty wide open, is this bad, one can only imagine the extent of the problem in other countries.

Perceptive thinking, Church Pervs. If you, or anyone else, is sufficiently interested, a daily reading of the Abuse Tracker page at www.bishop-accountability.org/AbuseTracker will only confirm your fears. Child-raping clergy and mitered and red hatted enablers are everywhere. EVERYWHERE!

Okay. Full disclosure here. I am a 55 year old former Catholic seminarian who no longer practices. I have two grandchildren. They are not Catholics and neither are my children. I was the victim of sexual and physical abuse as a child and teen at the hands of nuns. As a seminarian a Catholic nun attempted to coerce me into a sexual relationship. In high school I was beaten several times for talking by priests or a lay teacher.

This is simply wrong. Its a nice idea to pay for someone else's sins with a third party's money IF the Third Party completely agrees. Apparently, this is not the case. Look closer. I would bet dollars to donuts that the pastor is angling to get a promotion to Monsignor. This will do it. This is a phony, back handed way to get the Cardinal in your pocket if you are an ambitious priest. This has nothing to do with charity. This is a good career move by the priest.

www.bishop-accountability.org/abusetracker for daily verified coverage on why no laity should be donating

www.amazon.com for over 80 newly published books on the criminal cover up of Mahony and the curia from such salient and truthful authors as: Richard Sipe, Jason Berry, Leon Podles, and Fr. Thomas Doyle, OP

www.youtube.com for watching the 2006 US Academy Award BEST DOCUMENTARY nominated 'DELIVER US FROM EVIL', or for FREE at your local public libraries.

Also recently out on DVD (your public library or NETFLIX or www.youtube.com )'VOWS OF SILENCE' another 100% accurate and honest documentary.

The solution to riding the Church of serial pedophile cardinals enablers like Mahony, and aid and abetting bishops like Tod Brown and Robert Brom, is to cease donating and force Rome's hand to removing each, canonically censoring each, and placing each under life house arrest (at a minimum) as was done to guilt pedophile and serial pedophile enabler Marciel, founder of the Mexican cult-like, Legion of Christ

No accountability or punishment for Mahony and others? No Laity monies. It's that simple.

The $720 Million mentioned in the article is the tip of the iceberg, and heavily under reported, and does not include potential ongoing hundreds of cases with the relgious orders (Salesians, Jesuits, Holy Family, and secular LA Ardiocese etc).

This furgur does not include legal fees, court costs, pr spinn firms, future litigation awards and settlements that are coming.

This figure does not include squandered laity paid for assets (real esate, foundation portfolios, bequeathed estates and revenue from estates, collateralized schools against multiple million dollar loans for the laity to pay off, closed shrines, closed parishes, closed convents, closed seminaries, closed missions, hacked payrolls, dumped ministries, vocation in the sewer), etc.

In point of FACT the real numbers well exceed ONE BILLIOB DOLLARS, with no end in sight in the LA Archdicoese.

Mahony continues to enable, aid and abet active pedophiles still in ministries throughout the Archdiocese.

The 'donation' mention in this articel is nothing more than a PR stunt; if it were SINCERE or authentic, it would have been done without press releases.

This story is nothing more than a feable attempt to blackmail or obligate every parish to further acessments for Mahony's ongoing crime sprees.

SELL the useless Cathedral or turn it into a homeless shelter.

Sell Mahony's assets and his beloved cabin.

Stop Mahony from diverting hundreds of millions of dollars per year in off shore oil lease revenue, left to the Archdiocese, by Randolph Hearst's mistress Marion Davies, to keep the whole house of cards from being blown over.

STOP DONATING LAITY!

The Marion Davies funds have swelled in recent years, with oil selling at record high levels, it's the only thing keeping Rog in his job, with their diversion to pay off the Vatican, from long ago bouncing his guilty tail into oblivion.
If the LA laity stops donating en-masse, as was the case with Bernie Law, Rog dos not make retirement, on his 75th birthday, in just under 3 years.
Time to cease donating laity and send Damage Control Tour Benedict XVI th a message.
Borrowing from the slogan in the war on drugs:'Just Say No' to any donations.

The TRUE bill for the clergy abuse crisis is, NOT just what was paid to the victims, but also what was spent in fighting the victims and their lawyers for more than five years. HOW MUCH DID MAHONY SPEND ON HIS LAWYERS???? This is the figure I am concerned about. THIS is what we, as the ,"People of GOD", have a right to know.

Thanks for reminding me about , DELIVER US FROM EVIL, Diogenes. Cardinal Roger Mahony still refuses to meet with the victims of Father Oliver O'Grady, the priest featured in that film; and the children he (O'Grady) sexually violated in the the area of Stockton, California, when Mahony was Bishop of the Diocese of Stockton. What will it take to get Mahony to act like a man for once in his life?

Mahony has also SCREWED the LA laity on a loan he recently floated on an IRISH bank for $50+ million (and to avoid US banking disclosure laws, finacial trust laws and IRS reporting laws), using laity paid for assets (parochical schools) as collertal, to FORCE laity to pay for settlement damages via loans, or forfeit more real estate. Mahony is diabolical.

67 Million American Roman Catholic Laity = 67 Million VICTIMS of the Mahony, Law, Egan, McCarrick, George, Leveda, Egan, Pell, Hummes, Sodano, Rigali, Rivera, etc.'s continuing crime spree, and pervasive child endangerment.

STOP DONATING is the only WAY out of this laity.

"Right to know"? Get over it, Girl, Your rights are: pray, pay, obey. That's it. Ask your local member of the good ole girls Bish Club. He'll confirm it.

Your only salvation is to stop supporting the criminal enterprise known as the RCC. Only when they perceive a genuine threat to their cushy lifestyle will anything change.

If the Sunday collection basket were returned to the sacristy empty for two Sundays in a row, the Bish Club would collapse like an underdone souffle. See, like Dorothy, you had the power all the time and just didn't know it. Now you do. And what will you do with it?
