A string of Woodlake burglaries Friday morning was followed by two arrests and the closure of the town's post office.

Woodlake police said Raul Murillo, 21, and Salvador Campillo, 20, threw a rock through the storefront windows of both the post office, in 300 block of Valencia, and the Stop & Go, at Valencia and Naranjo boulevards. They also made off with merchandise and cash, police said.

At the Stop & Go, the burglars took more than $2,000 in merchandise and cash, Woodlake Police Chief John Zapalac said.

Paul Singh, manager of Stop & Go, said the burglary occurred about 3:20 a.m. The thieves broke through the door and stole cigarettes, liquor, beer, candy and a calling card, Singh said. The burglar also stole an undisclosed amount of cash. Shattered glass was discovered on the store's floor when it opened at 5 a.m., Singh said. He did not have a damage estimate.

The store is equipped with surveillance cameras, the manager said. Video of the suspects was given to police.

Damage to the post office was greater. Cash registers and drawers were ransacked and the interior was covered with foam from the office's fire extinguishers.

"When you walked in, everything was snow white," Zapalac said.

The case was referred to the postal inspector, the post office's law enforcement wing. Renee Fochts, a postal inspector with the regional office in Pasadena, said surveillance cameras helped police identify the suspects.

The City of Orange Cove is paying $3,086 per MONTH for an inoperable VIDEO SURVELANCE System.

WHY is that?

WHO is responsible for 'accepting' and 'obligating the City to make payments', for this system that does not work?

IT’s your MONEY Orange Cove!!
