Change in Woodlake graduation ruined it
I am writing about graduation at Woodlake High School. I am a single mother proud to have helped my children make it through the school system, but a situation arose about graduation ceremonies, and I know I am not alone.

As a former Employee of Woodlake High School, I know of this happening every 10-12 years when the weather has turned bad. The school is right. It would be a mess for the graduates and their family. Very seldom does the weather turn bad in June but we cannot change it. I am sorry this has happened to you but it happened to me also when one of my children graduated. You just make the best of the situation. Also, was it you that wanted to be the center of attention or did you want it for your child? Think about that. I know the school did not want to change it and there is not enough time to make these kind of decisions and get the input from the community.

My niece graduated this year at Woodlake HS and I was fortunate enough to have attended. I work at a high school in SJ, CA and the graduating class was 487 seniors. We have to have our ceremony in the event center at San Jose State University to accommodate all the families/spectators.
I loved the Woodlake HS ceremony; I was able to actually SEE my niece; see her smile, her joy, her pride. I was able to get some really terrific close up photos and the feel of a smaller venue was warming. On a football field (my high school used to do them on the field) does not allow the benefits that I experienced at Woodlake's this year. I was happy it was changed and you are right, weather controls us and our plans and sometimes you just have to put your BIG GIRL panties on and deal with it. Thank you for a great experience.
