While I absolutely agree that the gun range noise is annoying, the Kenmore Gun Range has been in its current location for several decades. I live about a mile away and sometimes hear it when I'm outdoors. My solution for indoors: new double-paned windows and thicker insulation. After a while, you'll get used to the sounds, much like noisy birds or barking dogs. And you're right, it does drive down the prices of homes in the immediate area: so much that I could actually afford to buy my own home! Despite the occasional gun shot noises, I love my garden, my house, and my neighbors.
Now, have you ever been in Bothell during the 4th of July? Especially around the gun range area? Because you're in for a real auditory treat. ;-)
I'm sure it's just an amount of time before Bothell follows most other cities and bans all fireworks. FD1 in unincorperated Sno County (where the gun range is) is pushing a ban on fireworks as we speak. As far as the gun range, I think this area will be much nicer when the outdoor shotgun and rifle range is relocated to a more remote area. Enjoy keeping your double pane windows shut in the summer.

Those taxpayers bothered by the ever-expanding nuisance of the so-called non-profit organization (tax exempt) Kenmore Gun Ranges shouldn't have to move or told to get used to it, you live there everyday and it is absolutely your right to sit on your property and not be forced to listen to the noise of shotgun blasts every day till 9pm. Lead exposure in the air is NO JOKE either. You are not only having to listen to that but are also paying for them with your tax dollars and the declining value of your property, and possibly jeopardizing your children's health.
Learn your rights and stand up for them, don't be BULLIED!!!! Other superfund sites had been around for decades, but that doesn't mean they shouldnt go and be cleaned up and not be a health hazard.

Now a gin club may be less of a nuisance, the GUN club is an absolute violation of homeowners rights, as tax paying citizens. The gun club is tax exempt, this is a slap in the face to all whose lives are effected.

Why isn't the shotgun range at KGC not in violation of Snohomish County Noise Control Ordinance 10.01? Does anybody know?

Support the indoor range and archery range. Close the outdoor rifle and shotgun range.

I hope everyone is enjoying the peace and quiet this weekend. I love archery competitions at the Kenmore Gun Range. They show the archers respect that they don't show the neighbors and close the firearms part of the range. It should be like this always. Close the outdoor shotgun and rifle range! Give the taxpaying citizens the peace and quiet they deserve!!

I think that eventually the land will be annexed into City of Bothell. City of Bothell will be more responsive to the people and the tax revenue that that is being lost. It's hard as long as it's unincorperated.I mean, it's hard enough to just get a sherrif to show up in an emergency in UIC Sno County. But don't give up. Don't be bullied. We are taxpayers, the range is "non-profit" club, tax exempt. The outdoor shotgun range in the meantime keeps getting bigger and has more shooters. They shut down this weekend for archery competition, so as not to disturb them. I don't know how they aren't in violation of the Sno County noise ordinance, if a dog barks for 20 minutes in an hour, it's in violation. It's BS.

We should "GET JESSE". It didn't used to be nearly this bad. No matter how long that's been a gun range it doesn't give them the right to Double in size and members and then tell us if we don't like it, to move. They are liable and they can be sued for lowering the value of our property, it's not an airport, it's a private club that let's the public shoot there for a large fee. I agree, it's BS.

People just love to complain about something. To bad they can't get out of their chair and put down their drink and complain about people who have children. If people were not allowed to have children these complainers would have their problem solved.

Frank,
We are concerned about our children, this isnt about people not having children. It's about living near a gun range that was tolerable when we bought a house here, but has grown expedentially in the last 5years in size, popularity and firepower, with tthe city of Bothell allowing the cutting down of sound barriers for developments in the area has made it very loud all day till 9pm on some nights.
It's not about gun control either, there is no problem with the indoor pistol range or archery range.
I don't think that people who have invested their lives in the area should be told to move because the gun club expands in a city environment. This isn't complaining, just to complain. This is real.

I dont care how long who has been where. Its the city that has allowed these homes to be built and yet not forewarned buyers that they will never have one day of peace between 9am and 9 pm. These do not belong in areas of residence period. SInce the city allowed developmenst to be built here they need to protect our rights of provacy and peaceful living in our homes which we do not have. I might as well be raped, as that is what it is!!! It is not welcome in my home but but I have no choice as it barrels through the walls and closed windows like a war zone. Its a CLEAR violation of my right to have peaceful living. If there was a neighbor blarring their music 9-9 362 days a year you'd be upset too. Keeps my children awake, and is very alarming to my youngest who gets scared and covers his ears. There is no playing outside anymore for me with them or for him. Our lives and sanity have been robbed. I have nothing against shooting ranges but this is a clear error on part of the city who obviously just wanted to make money and sell land without any regard to the buyers or the gunrange. KEnmore gunrage needs to be reloctaed or shut down or made as an indoor only shooting range! We work hard, pay taxes and have rights too! Just becasue it doesnt bother you does not mean its not legitimate. Maybe lucky for you if its doesnt, maybe lucky for you if you live 5 miles away and it has no affect. Doesnt matter it does bother many who deal with is day in and day out and that does matter whether you like it or not.
It's getting worse every day, log your complaints with Sno co. Sherrifs dept. Deputy suggested civil law suit. Outdoor high powered rifle and shotgun range needs to be relocated, the decibel levels I have monitored from residents is at hearing damage levels. It is worse for kids, lot of daycares in the area, your kids are at risk of hearing loss!

Again another response that its the failure of someone else for their own bad decision. No one forced anybody to move near the gun club so why not just face the fact. Why is it always the fault of someone else for a bad decision. Rather like the people who move into wild life areas and complain about the animals bothering them.

Jerry, the outdoor high powered rifle range and shotgun range wasn't an issue when we moved here. The range has grown in members and firepower without any notices or warnings over the years. It was unforeseen. As taxpayers and homeowners everyone has the right to protect those rights.
if you move to a house with a dog who is not that loud and then they get more dogs that bark from 9am to 9pm does that mean you have no right to do something about it or should we just say you made a mistake by moving next-door to someone who was planning on getting more dogs? Should you just shut up and move? I don't believe that. Thanks for the response.

Frank- its not the hundreds of homeowners fault that the outdoor portion of the gun range has grown and become much louder. Using the dog example, if you decided you had to move because your neighbor decided to get more dogs, dogs that bark all day nonstop and over the years their kids moved back into the house and played loud music and lit firecrackers allay and half the night, would you feel it was your mistake to live there because of this after years of compromise living next door to that neighbor and one barking dog?
If you decided you should just move after all those years, how many people would be interested when anyone who comes to view your house is greeted by nonstop barking dogs from 9am till 9pm? Try and put yourself in others people's does.
More shooters requires more noise suppression, or relocation. Or buy out the homeowners at the fair value of the average in Bothell, Lynwood, Brier, Kenmore.

The noise levels are cyclical. It's summer, so with hunting season starting, you can expect more shooters preparing for the season. Just wait for December and reconsider the noise level. It will be much reduced. Relax as right now is simply the busy season, much like fitness centers and gyms being crowded after new years resolutions in January and February.

Michael, I've lived here for years and the noise is bad in the winter and it is everyday, and there are no leaves on the trees which makes it worse. You may not hear it from your house, and I knew about the gun range when I moved here, but it wasn't as bad. They are my neighbors and I have been respectful to them over the years. The noise levels are much worse and there are a lot more shooters, I have monitored the levels during the last several years with a decimeter and have documented the results over the last 3 years. The sound are at levels that are damaging to childrens ears now. I think the range should consider ways to upgrade their noise buffeting, expanding and cutting more trees have only made things worse. I have nothing against the users or the indoor range, I just think the gun club could be better neighbors too. Thanks.

Join the club! enjoy the benefits and facilities offered there. bring the family and enjoy a sport that is not gender, size, strength specific. teach the kids gun safety! have family competitions. Every newbe i take shooting loves it. Sport / hobby shooting is very fun and challenging. Safety is #1 at WCW. Members are more than happy to help and answer quesstions. Try it!!! dont be scared .... yes whining is easier than learning but learning is more fun than moving. Next time you buy a house, spend a few minutes and learn a bit more about the neighborhood. Dont buy a house next to a gun range that has been there since 1940. your house was not there before the range and you have no right to whine about anything except your own ignorance.
