Does anyone know what it is going to cost the Nassau taxpayers to clean all the contaminated land. God only know what they have been dumping there over the years. If the government is involved, I'd stay as far away from that place as possible.

Yes, we WILL have it for future generations. We'll have it for their housing..and their jobs...and a tax base...and opportunities. You can't keep putting high-value real estate into parkland, keep taxes high, continue to send signals to businesses that you aren't really interested in anybody actually relocating or growing their company here, because we're too busy putting land aside, a step that benefits current residents, not future generations, who are deserting LI in droves. More parkland is not going to bring them back; jobs, housing and opportunities are.

Your note is a perfect example of a typical Long Islander: I've got mine; now everybody else, stay out. "Preserving it for future generations" is an utterly transparent attempt to hide the fact that another NIMBY-ite is interested only in ensuring that Long Island never, ever change. The change will come anyway, except it will be deterioriation, not progress.

If we hurry, we can have our fake ski mountain built before they build theirs.

Or the NASCAR Race Track.

How about an A.T.V. park. Keep it green. Some nice trails a little fun in the mud. We could use that on Long Island. But na here comes another strip mall.

PRESERVE, PRESERVE, PRESERVE!!! Give it back to the once abundant wildlife! Pull up all the tar and let the grass and trees grow! Can u imagine Long Island the way it was before Gruman came and started the slum island it has become! I can live with some low income senior housing. No more building useless strip malls or office space!

Jolly rogers it rocked!! The carousel horses and band inside was my favorite!! 20mile walk a thon! Beaches that were pristine and no illegal immigrants!!! Yes, those were the days
