Why would she bring him here? I thought our heath care was broken? I hear Cuba is the place to go for the best treatment.

got money and room for another million ? I think what you are doing is wonderful and all for yourself, what is his life like when he goes back ? BTW are you not a bit obsessed over this kid ? The thinking of him while in bed, tucking him in bed, fell in love with him ? If you were a man and the kid a girl you would go to prison for that stuff.

The only thing that can be derived from this article is the fact the Woodbury women has been searching for and has finally found a way to get her 15 minutes of fame. No one is against helping children or anyone for that matter, the problem is, she is working for and getting paid by the tax payers of Minnesota on behalf of Minnesotans and I would bet there are many children in her local vicinity that needed and would have really appreciated any additional help they could have received, the problem is, she would not get all the attention and her ego stroked for doing what she is getting paid to do in the first place working on social issues involving local individuals.

I think it's sad that the boy will be brought here and then sent back after a year. At least the aunt (not understanding why she brought her kid along) is here with him. It would be much more difficult without any family around.

I am surprised by some of the comments...I am also a social worker and your tax dollars are paying my salary...but I work hard and make sure that your money is well spent protecting children...the childen in this country all recieve MA if they are disableed...so they are already being given the medical services this child will now get because this woman took time to RAISE money and services for him...the money being spent is NOT your tax paying dollars. To the people with comments...please go out and give time and money if you have it to the children in America...because even with your TAX dollars...there are many who still lack love and attention. Heck feel free to also help children from all over the world...they are our future after all.

Tears streamed down my face this morning. "To whom much is given, much will be required." Luke 12:48. We all have more than we realize in this great country. I will pray for Karen Cooper and her young Nigerian friend and donate $$ if I am able.

Why is this news? If the kid were white and the benefactor from a non-gay christian church it wouldn't be. Still, good for her I guess.

Wow--what horrible, selfish, sarcastic comments about a woman who is actually doing something for this child. How christian of you all.

It would be fine if it was on her own time and with her own money.

I don't think that bringing this child to Minnesota for 6 mos. is in the CHILDS best interest.........in fact I am greatly troubled by it. Instead, I am concluding that this is a very selfish act on her part.

I find it disturbing---- the way she talks about him sounds more like the conversations I have at the dog park talking about our pets. This child is not a pet!

I think that the money and efforts could have been 100x better spent keeping him in his own country, exploring and securing the best, LONG TERM, for him THERE. AND being a social worker, she should know that! I sincerely hope that this extremely poor decision will not adversely affect this child, now and in the future.

As a former foster parent, let me say that you are full of **it.

Very few social workers actually put in a forty hour week. When they do work they waste incredible amounts of time and money. Finally, I sincerely believe that children in general would be much better off if we simply abolished social workers. Far too many times, I have watched them (you?) destroy children and families.
