I just visited the Leesburg location (next to Wegman) and i felt like I was "upsold",I went in for a routine cleaning and ended up being told I have a mouthful of cavities and needed immediate work totaling close to $2,000.. But as someone with no prior pain or sensitvity and who brushes twice a day, flosses at least once a day and rarely drinks soda or eats candy this diagnosis seemed strange. Plus the fact that prior to the dentist's grim diagnosis-the hygienist who did the cleaning raved that I had good dental hygiene and she didn't see anything wrong with my teeth. Needless to say I will be getting a second opinion!!

I have to admit I made an appointment for me and my husband for today and based on the reviews I read I was nervous about going. I even sent a text to my husband to call me because his appointment was an hour ahead of mine. Although apprehensive and guarded becasue of the reviews I read, I went anyway and I am GLAD I did. My experience here was great! The staff was professional and courteous from the time I walked in the door until the time I left. Dr. Ma is very personable and didn't hesitate to answer any questions I had. He even offered me a blanket because the office was a little chilly. The office honored the $99 special as advertised and even suggested ways I could save money on future visits since I am self-employed and do not have dental insurance. On top of that, I did need a filling, but did not feel pressured into having to have that procedure done today. One thing I have noticed is that a lot of complaints seem to be coming from VA offices. I've come to one conclusion. Either VA is doing way bad, or the people living and going to VA offices are way spoiled. In either case, I can certainly say for the office I visited in Brandywine, MD today I have nothing but praise for Neibauer. For those of you on the fence about visiting, I will say go and see for yourself. As a business owner, reputation is king and if I had a customer who was dissatisfied for any reason I would at least want an opportunity to make it right.

I have a great fear of going to the dentist. This fear and anxiety has turned into me not going to the dentist for over 3 years. I knew I needed to go, and my parents have been going to Neibauer in Warrenton for a while, and told me how awesome they are. So I willingly decided to deal with my fear and get my teeth cleaned and see what's wrong. I go in and was quickly told that I have over 8 cavities and one of my cavities was so bad that I needed to get a crown. I freaked out because I hate the dentist and the idea of having a long drawn out dentil procedure caused me to have a panic attack. The dentist told me we'll divide the treatment up into two different appointments, the first one to do one side and the temporary crown, the second to do the other side and to put the permanent crown in two weeks later.
I paid for the dental procedure, and made an appointment the same day.(crammed in as one of their last patients the friday before Labor Day weekend.) I was told it was going to be about a 2 hour appointment. Came in at my appointment time, and Was quickly shot up with Novocain had some paper work shoved into my hands saying I needed to sign it and then left alone for a half hour. I wasn't told anything, not even "we're waiting for the novocain to kick in before we start" or anything. They came back and just shoved my mouth open and started. No explanation no nothing. about an hour and a half in, while they were drilling they switched to my lower jaw, and I was instantly in pain. Apparently they didn't numb me enough. So they just shot me again in the same place that didn't effectively numb me the first time. and they left me alone for another half hour without explaining anything to me.
Through out the whole entire appointment, the dentist and hygienist were arguing with each other about how the hygienist wasn't doing something right, from holding the tool incorrectly to not making my temporary crown properly. I asked if I was closed to being done, and the hygienist laughed and said no were close. and she left. not explaining a thing.
Finally after a 3 and a half hour appointment, i was done. in a ton of pain and stressed out. They didn't give me any post care instructions. Not even telling me what i was I could and couldn't drink/eat. NOt told that I can't floss or what pain meds I should take if my teeth hurt! Nothing! I had to hunt down some one at the front to find out if it was okay for me to eat dinner! I came home. very upset and traumatized by the whole procedure and dreading the fact that I have to go back in two weeks.
Tuesday night, My temporary crown popped out while I was brushing my teeth. the next morning (after a horrible night sleep btw) I called wanting to come in to get my temporary crown back in. They told me the doctor was on vacation and I will have to wait until friday to get my crown back in, I asked if it was okay for me to wait three days without having my temporary crown in. I was answered with being put on hold. five minutes later she comes back on saying that I should be able to pop it in myself with some denture adhesive. I got nervous. seriously? they couldn't find a 20 minute slot for some one there to do that?!? They then asked if I was in any pain. DUH i was in pain, I couldn't put any pressure on the area that had the crown without it hurting! I couldn't eat or drink anything with out it hurting and they wanted it to go on for three days?! I told my mother about this she called and treated her very rudely saying there was nothing they could do until friday.
I haven now stuck my own crown back into my mouth, it hurts like crazy. However I can now eat something, but it still hurst. I'm fairly certain I have put the dang thing in backwards. I have to go back in on friday to get this sorted out, but after I have my permanent crown in, I will never step foot in that dentist office again.

After only two visits I'll never go back to Neibauer again. Their staff is trained to speak like robots and have no compassion for their customer's. Their accounting practices suck. Be careful you don't find ourself out of pocket more than they quoted. It seems to be a common thing with them. I would not recommend them to anyone. If you have to reschedule a routine cleaning you'll be lucky if you even get one in once a year. I had a crown done by the assistant becasue the doctor was overscheduled. It took the assistant a long time and she was very careful, felt sorry for the assistant but the doctor should have been available. Oh and yes I tied their loan, got approved and waited for the first invoice. Buy the time it arrived (which I had totally forgotten about after 45 days) they tacked on a late fee because I hadn't payed in the first 30 days. Trust me, the whole experience was awful. I'll never go back!

An absolute nightmare that I'm still living. I went to the office in Herndon, VA for my very first visit at Neibauer on November 9th. I had been suffering from terrible tooth pain on the upper left side. I had already been scarred by a botched root canal earlier this year with another office. I had a feeling this tooth needed a root canal as well. Upon my first visit, my suspicions were confirmed. My #12 tooth needed a root canal. I explained to the doctor that I am a Multiple Sclerosis patient and the last root canal I had put me in the hospital with a flair up that I'm just now recovering from. He put me on antibiotics and said he wanted to wait to work on the tooth until the medication had time to work. We scheduled the root canal for Thursday, November 15th (last week). The doctor's first error is that he proscribed me Clindamycin. It stated very clearly on my patient medical history form that I'm allergic/can't take Erythromycin or anything in the Erythromycin family as it causes me horrible stomach pain and vomiting blood. That weekend I spent doubled over a toilet until I put two and two together. I never even got so much as an apology when I mentioned it to him on the day of the root canal. The procedure it's self appeared to have gone alright but the doctor didn't want to stress my body out too much and said that he had completed the pulpectomy and sealed the tooth (I was informed by a family friend that they're supposed to put a temporary crown on?). He prescribed Amoxicillin and we scheduled the completion of the root canal for Saturday, November 24th. So over this past weekend the swelling and pain became worse each day. I spoke to the doctor on Saturday, November 17th and told him that the left side of my face was more swollen than before, hot to the touch, and incredibly painful. I told him that the swelling was from my left upper lip to my left eye socket and back to almost my ear. He stated that indeed that was not normal and said he would "call around" and get back to me. I suppose to gain an opinion from another dentist? The next morning (this past Sunday, November 18th) the left side of my face was even more swollen, hot to the touch, I was now running a fever, and now with terrible sinus pain. I could tell that my left sinus was swollen because I couldn't breath out of that side and when I could it was incredibly painful. I notified the doctor of all of this and his response was and I quote "I'm sorry to hear that. I'll get back to you". I didn't hear from him until almost 8:00 pm Sunday night saying that he couldn't find another dentist that was working and asked that I come into the office first thing Monday morning (yesterday). I call their office first thing yesterday morning and was told that my doctor wasn't even working! I was offered to see the other doctor in the practice so I went in. The other doctor examined me as best he could with out me jumping out of the chair from pain. They did another panoramic x-ray and then was told that I have an abscess that is encroaching into my sinus cavity that needs to be drained/lanced immediately. I at this point haven't really slept, eaten, or had any pain relief in days so I was quite frankly beside myself. To make matters worse, the other doctor told me (and I'm thankful for his honesty) that the Novocaine wouldn't be as effective due to the pus and infection so I would probably feel some of the incision. First they took out the sealant from the tooth in question. I then hear the doctor say "oh there's a piece of cotton gauze". The previous doctor had left a piece of gauze in my tooth and sealed it in !!! No wonder I've got a massive infection in my face! I had the abscess drained and a follow up appointment tomorrow. I've also contacted my insurance company. Unfortunately my saga continues. This practice is inexcusable and should be avoided at all cost!

I've become very irratated by Neibauer's practice of seeming to think that everyone is a "credit risk". Before you can even book an appointment for services like a root canal, crown etc.you have to pay half the bill at the time of booking. I've have spent thousands of dollars with Neibauer and have never had to even get a statement from them. I was in there recently in terrible pain and in walks one of their staff people asking me for payment before I can get in the chair as though I was going to jump up and run out after treatment. I overpaid for a plan by $1,030 and got the run around about my refund. They want you to wait 3-4 weeks for your money but you can't walk of their door oweng them a penny. I think there's something wrong with that picture. I will certainly be looking for a new Dental Practice.
After going to Neibauer Dental in Waldorf, MD then Prince Frederick, MD since 1995/1996 (and speniding thousands upon thousands)I will be switching to a new dentist as of now. I have always ensured my bills were paid (even when their estimates were very out of line). So now I receive a bill for a grand total of $147 and when I called it in question, their answer was the party line re insurance payment vs. estimates; but what really ticked me off was the statements that by making the inquiry I was acknowledging the bill, a note would be put in my file as such, and all they are concerned about is payment. I have placed two calls to the office manager and have yet to receive a response. My husband has been trying to get to move to his dentist (he quit Neibauer after an issue in the Great Mills, MD office), the rest of my family has likewise found other professionals that act in a personal nature and have all moved on. Consider me out the door.

First of all i just want to say that Dr. Neibauer himself is retired, however, he was an excellent dentist for many years. He started his first office in Waldorf before opening Neibauer Dental Care. He also went on missions in other countries to help people who couldn't recieve dental care at all. He is a very generous man and he would do anything to help a patient. Now as far as the cost of treatment, these are all doctors who are hand picked for their company. They are highly trained dentists who give the best quality work. You get what you pay for! You should even recieve your treatment plan before starting anything so you are completely aware of what you are getting and paying for. Also, if you feel like you can't afford everything they will help you decide what is the most important to least important so you can save money. Your teeth/mouth effect a lot of what goes on in your body, inculding different types of disease. I think that by going to Neibauer Dental Care you recieve the best possible treatment by the best possible doctors who are concerned for you and your health as their patient. This is what they work so hard for in all their years of school! I am sorry some people haven't done their research and had horrible experiences. But, instead of coming on the internet and complaining about it, why don't you speak to your doctor directly because as a patient with them for 4 years any complaint I've had at 3 different locations they have been very concerned and willing to help me with anything from a small question that may be a simple answer to them, to a bigger concern such as cost of treatment. You people need to get a life and I challenge you to find another dental practice that is better quality. And for all the people reading these reviews, please go and make your own assumption, I'm sure you will be pleased.

The company is now owned by Heartland Dental Care as of 12/01/2011 and GOOD LUCK with trying to get a positive caring reaction from them, you thought Neibauer was a joke, Heartland is making it a trillion times worse (hence the reason I left). They are making patient care a low priority and making money a top :(- From: Former Employee

And you clearly are an employee. How can you stick up for a company that wants there people to work and work and work with no compensation. People that know entirely to much to be paid what I was when there are people who know hardly anything and make double! I knew a girl that was TERRIBLE couldn't answer phones to save her life but because she was affliated with people in corporate made BANK! We were told "nothing will change you will barely notice" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH thats a bunch of crap! There's way to many managers and NOBODY from WAY upper management is even watching what they do. Way to make us lower people feel like were on assembly line, I can only imagine what the patients feel! I used to refer ALL of my friends to come work for the great company I worked for, now HA! I wouldn't refer my worst enemy. I'm looking for a new job that will appreciate me for what I'm worth. You keep adding new companies to be apart of your affiliation when you can't take care of the companies you already have!

Please, please save yourself the trouble and DO NOT USE Neibauer dental. Horrible dental work, work that didn't really need to be done, way too costly, and dentists that do not know what they are doing.I had been going to the Crofton practice. Much of their work had had to be replaced by another dental office(who I am very happy with)just after a year or two. They even noticed that there were very cheap materials used....I had a filling fall out that had been at Neibauer originally and it was like paper and soft when it fell out. Neibauer needs to be shut down....do not go here. I was in the dentist chair once at Neibauer and the dentist said..oops I got too close to the root looks like you need a root canal..stopped right there and made me figure out financing and pay right there in the chair before they continued. Horrible, horrible practice. I repeat save you time and go to a reputable dentist....this is as someone above mentioned a chain dentist. Everyone of us should report them and get them shut down.
