My 16 year old daughter was friends with the two young men that lost their lives in this tragic accident.I want to extend my sypathies to their family and also want to extent my heartfelt sympathy to the family of the woman who was also lost in this tragedy.I just hope that people think about the living and the pain that they are feeling before they start to throw stones. We have all made mistakes in life and I am sure that none of us are immune to the possibility of a tragedy of this magnitude. Please think about the loss and be kind to the living.

I am FURIOUS that People are making the Driver of the FATAL CAR out to be some kind of "poor soul" when in fact HE KILLED a Young Woman and put another one in the Hospital fighting for Her Life!!!
Nothing is being said of these 2 Young Woman who has NOTHING to do with the accident except to have been in the right place at the wrong time. They were coming back from the Vet with a sick Kitten exactly what were these Young "BOYS" doing to have caused such a horrible thing to happen?????

Hey woman, shut your hole. Rich and Tony were good guys, they might have done some bad stuff before but god damn, they would never hurt anyone! Your only posting this to make yourself look like a fool. Have some respect, me and about ten others lost two good friends the other night. Get your facts straight and let the police sort it out before your throw a fit.

Yes, sympathies to all concerned. And, we do need to see what the police report says. However, I doubt there's a good reason for them to have going north in the southbound lane of I-35.
I drive that street every day, and drivers like that (i.e. in the wrong lane) make life difficult, and for some, very short.

You write they've done "bad stuff before". What are you referring to?

Accidents Happen but people need to at least try to be responsible for their actions. It really don't matter who was going where and who was doing what. We all should practice safer driving habits, you don't have to be drunk to cause an accident, you can be upset, or not thinking straight. Just takes a second to take your attention away.....a split second and you could die. We will never know what really happened, it could have been a combination of a lot of things...maybe the sick kitten was crying, maybe the young boy behind the wheel took his eye off the road for a second, no matter what none of the people in the accident were out to get one another...they were just normal people who for what ever reason God called to Heaven. Say prayers for the families & friends for all will be missed. They were all young, much too young to have their lives end so fast. Stop fighting on the internet and telling people to shut up. It's really dumb. If your a good driver try to be better. Tomorrow could be your last day...you just never know. How sad. May your 2 young friends and the Ladies all rest in Peace.

Yeah there a HUNDRED different reasons for why they ended up in the southbound lane, couldve lost control of the car, onboard computer might have failed and lost control of the power steering, cigarette butt might have landed in richs lap. PS i know for a fact that rich was STONE SOBER while he was driving, no alcohol NO DRUGS, he never drives under the influence.

and suddenly we have people qouestioning, whos to blame.
Tyra
you seem to think that they up and decied hey lets cause an accident and hurt people. yeah im sure they wanted to die and take people with them right? HE IS A POOR SOUL THERES A REASON THEY CALL IT AN ACCIDENT STUPID. tony and rich never deserved this, they were good people they like the rest of us lived life knowing that we would die someday just not so soon. and i love the little "boys" yeah becuase thier thirty friggen seven right? THEIR SEVENTEEN thier children thier boys thier life wasnt nearly long enough so dont you dare speak another bad word about them. becuase if you do, i will point you to thier parents house and watch them cry like i did tonight, and you tell them that you think thier children thier sons who they watched grow from babies and hope to achive some dreams of thiers one day, that you think thier to blame, because you think thier obviously up to something no good right. I would just love to see you do that.
obviously you have no idea about anything and might as well never open your mouth again becuase once you do it seems nothing but BS falls out like vomit.

as to the situation itself, we all had a vigil tonight by the curbside, very heartfelt, lot of crying, some laughing and remembering, some praying, flipping off camera crews (because thier souless and only want a story and this shouldnt be a public matter becuase its too privet to all of us for them to make it so public, because thats the last thing we need is to be hugging and huddling together and then have some prick shove a camera in your face, no respect those people)

Very tragic, especially since a third person has lost their life. The woman in the Jeep died from her injuries.

The Chrysler 300 is a car that has a huge Hemi V-8 engine. This car has no problem achieving 120 mph. In addition it is rated one of the most safe full size cars on the road. If both boys died in the crash, the speed they were going had to be severely excessive. Seventeen year old drivers do not have the driving experience to effectively control this type of car.

Based on the damage to the three cars, these boys had to be going much too fast.

Andrew, just Your using the word "stupid" and other words lets Me know just how IMATURE You really are. How about I take You to the Families of the Woman Killed and let You speak Your stupidity to Them OR take You to the Hospital and speak it there OR take You to the Mother and 3 Children and let You speak such words to Them? It is always sad to lose anyone let alone someone so young BUT it was TONYs decision to drive so wreckless and yet so Many have to pay the price (up to and inculding all His Friends)

once again shows you know nothing. tony wasnt driving, rich was. you obviously are stating oppions, without any knowledge. call me immature, at least i have respect for the dead. and yes you put me in front of any one of the other familys or loved ones hurt by this tragedy and ill say the same thing, it was a terrible accident but you cant place blame like that, you have no idea what happened, you dont even know who was driving. and ill tell them im sorry they have to feel such pain for this. and then ill mourn with them. but placing blame and saying its all thier fault is like saying, if thier car wasnt so sturdy and well built, then rich and tony would still be alive so its thier fault thier dead, WITCH ISNT TRUE, placing blame for bad reasons is the same as suing mcdonalds becuase thier coffee is too hot. and yes i used the word stupid simply becuase i wanted to say something true without resorting curses.

Tyra...do you know exactly what happened? Were you there? You do not know what happened...nobody does...not even the police who were at the scene. Do you ever stop to think that these boys had families too? Do you even realize what they're going though? Nobody knows what happened, but everyone seems to think that Tony and Rich were crazy wreckless drivers...but I've come close to being in accidents, not being my fault, but the fault of an adult...if there was an accident, guess who would be being accused? Me...the crazy 19 year old driver...until they found out the truth...so wait for the truth since nobody knows it yet...and please have sympathy...these kids have just lost their best friends...life is too short to be throwing around blame as you can see from this tragedy...from the woman who died, to both Tony and Rich.

Thanks for the reply. When you said "bad stuff before" I was actually expecting worse than stealing in middle school. In any case that prior stuff has nothing to do with this accident.

I stopped by the scene today to take a brief look at the memorial. It's really quite touching. It's an effective reminder of how human the stories are once all the vehicles get towed away.

What got me going on this topic was the fact that a) I've seen close calls and minor collisions on that road many times, and b) I drive past that very spot several times a day.

Now, I'll think about this every time I drive past.

R.I.P.

And, people, please be safe.

Very tragic situation for everyone but as far as passing judgement and placing the blame on the boys...there is no conclusive evidence that this is due to any negligence on the drivers part. The only thing that is factual is the devastating death of two good kids that I knew.Is there really a right and wrong here......the result is the death of three people.Placing blame willnot take the pain away from anyone, it just gives people somewhere to direct there anger.
RIP Richard and Tony
You will be greatly missed
For the family of the woman .....My deepest sympathy

The accident did occur outside of a pub....is it possible, someone with a few drinks pulled out onto the highway in front of them, and they had to swerve out of the way? How many accidents are caused by wreckless drivers who cause people to swervi]e outof the way into oncoming traffic....and how often do those people just drive off, not even knowing what
terrible accident may have resulted from their wrkcklessnes?

I think everyone is losing sight here. Bottom line, three lives were lost, one has suffered not only physically but also emotionally with the loss of her partner and three other lives were able to escape with minor injuries. This has and will continue to change the lives of all those affected.

I can tell you from visiting the scene myself and having seen the damage to the vehicles, there is no question in my mind. It is unfortunate, but apparent that the Chrysler 300m was driving well beyond the designated speed limit prior to impact, most likely 80+ mph. Blame is neither necessary nor appropriate but the obvious should not be ignored. If the “official” police reports are released to the public, the accident will no doubt be due to excessive speed accompanied by wreckless driving on the Chrysler's part. The vehicle traveled over a double, solid yellow line, side-swiped the Hyundai and hit the Jeep head on sending it airborne and landing on its passenger side. Interestingly enough there were witnesses that have stated the Chrysler was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control sending them head on into the Jeep.

It was horrifying how the boys were being “glorified” on the front page of the newspaper two days in a row while Nancy, Kristy and the family of the third vehicle were virtually disregarded. Only once the newspaper had received numerous phone calls from the public, stating they were infuriated then an article was finally written focusing on Kristy and Nancy. They should have been recognized initially having been the “victims”.

vic•tim -[vik-tim] noun.

1. One who is harmed or killed by another

Nancy and Kristy, you will forever be in my heart and thoughts…

this is crazy... listen nancy and kristy and the three people in the other car are the victims... yes the other boys died and i'm not saying that anyone deserved to die but the two boys died from there own doing... no one else's... nancy was in the right place at the wrong time....nancy and kristy's jeep didn't cross lanes and hit the boys... are you people listening to yourselfs and in fact many of poeple said they were speeding... this is all a tragic thing but how you guys are carring on is wrong have some respect... and i was very upset that nancy and kristy weren't written about in the paper...like friends in ford said they truely are the victims in this accident...nancy and kristy you are in my prays always....
