My wife and I are looking at houses in the area, a few of which are not far from the train tracks crossing at Rt. 97, Old Washington Rd. I've heard that the train is required to blow its whistle each time it crosses here since there are no bars that lower to prevent cars from entering the train tracks. My question is how often do the trains cross here and blow the whistle and how loud is the whistle? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Wow, what a question. Point blank, if you move near the train tracks, don't complain about the noise. The Railroad was there first. (Don't move near the dump if you don't like smelling trash, the airport if you don't like planes, schoolhouse if you don't like kids, etc. etc.)
