I don't intend to be sure. That is not my problem. You asked for my opinion about the 2nd Amendment.<quoted text>
And that is why we cannot have this discussion with you. You evidently do not live in the real world, but I would be interested, just for the sake of hearing, how you intend to be sure that machine guns, bazookas, and surface to air missiles are not ever used for any criminal purposes if they should become available to the public.
We currently have hundreds, if not thousands, of gun restrictions on the books. They do NOTHING to stop people intent on committing crimes from committing them. Adding additional laws will do NOTHING. They will only encumber and harass otherwise law abiding citizens to no purpose.
If I possess a machine gun and do not use it to commit crimes or harm others why do you care?
If you are concerned about crime, let's start raising the penalty for committing crimes. Personally I would just as soon hang everyone who commits crime more serious than say, Grand Theft Auto. Hang the drug dealers and you will see fewer people willing to risk their lives to deal drugs.
You see, we don't have a gun problem in this country other than the cost is skyrocketing. We had a people problem. People do not respect the property and rights of others. This problem is acute amongst the more liberal members of our society.
