The truth about splost

After a few calls to some elected people out of town and county found the truth on city getting money from splost.
Now Jay Moreno if you want to back a John Morrissey thats your right.
If a person will lie to my face about how they get splost money. What else will he lie about? By state law the county gets the money every month, then county has 10 days to give to city of getting it.
So either John is at a total lost of the money or he told a bold face lie.

Jay you called me demented a few days back what are you willing to call Morrisey demented, lier. or a person trying to spend money in other ways.
Before you say they cant the money can go into a general fund.

Lets see if crazy Syndey or Bird will put up a suggestion for it to go into a special account and only transfer the intrest over to general fund.

As I said I will take a honest person with common sense over a thief with a masters in accounting.

Do not know who you talked to, but they have given you bad info. The way our Splost is setup, there is an amount (don't remember how much) will be taken in before any can be issued to the city. The money is held in a fund at the county and the cities can draw on that account providing it is for authorized expenses as listed in the Splost agreement. The money cannot go into their general fund. The person to talk to about our Splost is Mike Fender at the county, he can give you all the correct details.

That is exactly right and exactly who I told Tommy to talk to.

Apparently, trying to reason with Tommy is a futile effort. That can be said of all the class envious, conspiratorialists who constantly blather unwarranted dire warnings and complaints about St. Marys city government post-Brandon.

Let's hope that we sane, rational, people will continue to out number them at the polls.

Thanks for the help, but our best efforts to educate these loons are entirely futile.

Unfortunately the authorized expense list has been consolidated to one word. "STUFF"

Really?

Can you post a copy of that list that simply reads "stuff.?"

Lets start with the park "Thing". I consider that somebody's stuff that wasn't on the original list.

Then once they got away with that take a look a the original approved splost 6 list with the expected costs. Now take a look at what was actually spent and where.

Splost 7...One word, it will be spent on "Stuff" at the discretion of the five in the middle.

A former mayor in the state gave me place to look it up ga.splost.net
gives all the new laws that were changed because of counties putting into general fund drawing intrestand not giving to cities.

Money the county gets goes into a special account but the city can put money into general fund.

I never questioned the county because I know 2 common sense rednecks sit on CCBOC and will keep them in check.

Oh by the way, being that election time is just around the corner, the St. Marys Web page has mystery removed Splost financial information.

Right out of the "Lois Lerner" playbook. Which on of the five directed that action?

Mr.Fender backed what a former elected gave me the only difference was he said the cities had a option to set set up different accounts.
The 10day rule of after the county gets the check from state is correct.
Now Mr/Mrs Table the person I spoke with has the same wrong information Mr. Fender has. They both must be wrong.

The cities will not get their money right when Splost funds start coming in. Thre is a project that gets the funds first. After that project gets it's funds then the cities will start to get their share. The money at no time goes into the general fund. Did Mike explain to you how the city draws it's funds and how?

If we make this accounting complex enough, we can steal a lot more public revenue and the ignorant ass voters will never know.

Yes he will back it or do as I did first look it up under ga law and its on the countys website as well.

the ga law and agreements with cities comes to a special account with county they cut check to cities within 10 working days The city can open a special account for it to go in.

My aunt was a mayor who pushed for this change back in 2001. She is a retired school teacher with common sense and knew when her city was getting screwed
