I agree that this is just an attempt to use the Boat House property for some pie in the sky wish list because the City and/or committee have not been able to come up with a developer after Lang was mislead. The Boat House was not in that bad of shape and made the property such that a developer would have considered the property. Lang had already made arrangements to improve the existing house. It is all unrealistic and a tremendous waste of time and money for some one to propose some thing that turly is unrealistic. The economic woes should be addressed in a realistic manner. Not some "Chip Drury" type project. It is understood that Weaver has less to do because of the lull in building and zoning matters, but he could have been used in a more productive manner. It is a business not being run like a business.

Did you speak out at the meeting? Per today's T&G: "It's a good place to start, St. Marys residents said ..." and "(resident) echoed other speakers in saying the proposal was a great beginning ..." No negative reporting and no mention of Steelaway. How's your "fight" going?

If you read the proposal you will see how unrealistic it is. Of course it is a beginning but it is not going to happen. It is not obtainable. Just like the recreational venture planned for Kingsland. The point is that there needs to be realistic goals. Things that can be done not what is wished could be done. No one with half a wit would oppose a project that can be implemented. A beginning has to be obtainable. I would like for some one to show what is the merit in the City having concurent or enforcement of DNR regulations. Also, a complimentary hotel on the Bartlett Stree property is a joke. Government can't do one single thing that a private enterprise can do without it being a disaster. A burden on the taxpayers. Accomdations for horses, mules and donkeys to pull carriages is far fetched. It would be great if it was feasible. It smacks of the foolishness Chip Drury was proposing.
It is the old story if it sounds too good to be true it isn't.

If they wanted jobs and a positive impact on the economy they should return the waterfront back into what it once was, a seaport! Run the railroad tracks back and line the river with cranes! Dredge the North River and develop the old mill site!

If you have not had your quota of B.S. you can attend the up coming meeting with the St. Marys Council to discuss future goals. You can share the time with those who are promoting Chip Drury type pipe dreams for the "Village". No fooling they actually call St. Marys a village. Hopefully one of the goals will be to kick the tax and spend tin horn politicans to the damn curb along with their high dollar St. Simons lawyer. Also, they might assign Weaver to some thing other than foolish projects for sail boat bums.

The Last village was a bunch of Timiquan Indians. They showed their asses and they are no more. However we have a number of village idiots who have now showed up. Several on City Counci.

Emily Hope's letter was outstanding. Although to most of us the MHD report reads as nonsense. There are a group of special interest sailboaters that the City would love to spend your tax money on. There will be more support than one would suspect especially from Jim and Nancy.

Emily's letter had some worthwile points. Steelaway should be paying advalorum taxes to the city and county since they have been here so long. They have been year round residents for at least 4 years and need to pay taxes just like everyone else. Every boat in the marinas or at anchor should be acessed Advalorum taxes if they are here for more than six months or so. I don't know about the other boats in the harbor, seems like the cruisers come and go every few months or so.

Yes, try to tax boats anchored or moored in another state. Brilliant.

Just curious if you have ever talked to John about your concerns. He seems reasonable.

I guess you can see Florida then, cause that is where they anchor.
