Over on another Topix post I posted the following in response to someone saying, get the government out of education, or something along those lines.

"Same thing for a woman's uterus - get the government out. It's mine. Not yours. Not the governments. Mine. I get to make ALL uterus decisions. Always.

Remember that FACT women when you vote next. Republicans and Teas want control over your uterus. They - not you - want to make your medical decisions.

And today - the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade - where the Supreme Court legalized abortion access for ALL women in ALL states - Republicans and Teas are still waging their War on Women to deny you your rights.

Remember that when you vote. Voting Republican and Tea is bad for ALL women. They want to control you, restrict you and take your medical choices away. Don't let them do that to you. Don't let them do that to us. Don't vote R or T."

In hindsight, I should have made a new post concerning this important subject given today's importance to women.

For myself and most women I know, we value the freedom the Supreme Court granted over 40 years ago, legal access to an abortion should we decide that is the best choice for our particular situation. However, for over 40 years Republicans and lately Teapublicans too, have been chipping away at our rights. For example, in North Dakota, there is one abortion clinic serving the entire state. Yes, one and only one. That's as a result of Republican legislators passing restrictive laws resulting in all others being closed. Are they done? Nope, they continue to pass laws trying to close the final one, but are stymied when the laws are overturned by the courts. Will they quit? Probably not. Are they concerned about the rights of women in North Dakota? No, not at all. Zero. You could become pregnant under the most dreadful conditions and the state will make your medical decision to abort or not for you. You do not get to weigh in. And that, in my opinion, is akin to rape - taking a women's right away.

Although that's only one state's example, that is what's happening across America where Republicans control the state house. As such, unless you want your choice in abortion matters taken away from you, your daughters and the rest of us in the state, it's vital you not vote Republican or Teapublican. Not at the local, state or national level as they will deny us our right to make our own decision about our own bodies.

And yes, Republicans and Teapublican are very much like the Taliban in treatment of women. They want to have control. They feel entitled to control women. Don't submit to them. Don't vote for the Republican Taliban. Don't do that to the women of America.

I learned firsthand what Republicans do, can do and want to do about women's rights while by being a good Republican for many years and not speaking out. In hindsight, I cannot believe the things I witnessed. The bottom line, voting Republican or Tea is bad - very bad - for all women. Please don't do it. And please help spread the word about the Taliban nature of Republicans.

Maybe you need to learn more about how women are treated by the taliban. I have lived as a republican female my adult life grew up in a republican home and never have I seen a female stoned to death or set on fire just for being outside of their home without a male member of their family. I know you are trying to make a point about female rights but you are making a point with the wrong examples. I feel sorry for what woman in many other countrys go through so I feel pretty good about where I am. As for abortion I just dont believe God makes mistakes.

Okay I'm fine with that.
Maybe you should make the decision to use birth control and try avoid abortions.

That person on the other thread would be me. As I replied then, I will reply now. I am perfectly willing, indeed eager, to stay out of your, or anyone else's uterus so long as you do the same when there is a human life growing there.

Since Roe v. Wade abortion has stopped over 55 million beating hearts. Statistically over half of them female. These murdered babies were prevented from ever knowing the joy of life due largely to the callous political grasping of the Democrat Party. And you think the Republicans are waging a "War on Women"? All of the casualties are due to YOUR actions.

To claim that Republicans and TEA Party members are like the Taliban displays a profound ignorance of the Taliban and/or deliberate disingenuous smearing of your political opponents.

I seriously doubt you were EVER a Republican. Certainly never a Conservative.

Iíll do my best to respond to you and your comments politely and without sarcasm.

There are many reasons other than failure to use contraceptives as a reason to have an abortion. These include rape, incest, contraceptive failure, birth defect such as anencephaly, health risk to mother, mental health of the mother, etc. Each of these and other conditions dictate how a pregnant woman decides to have or terminate her pregnancy. Rest assured, the decision is full of anguish and never reached easily. As a man, you will NEVER know what all goes into this decision before, during and after. All we ask is what the Supreme Court guaranteed, legal access to abortion in every state by all women. Please respect our rights and our ability to make the best decision for ourselves and our families in our particular circumstance.

Iím sure you know, but just in case you donít, Republicans and Teapublicans want to take these rights away from women. While the Democrats support womenís right in this matter. Until that changes, I will always support and advocate for the Democratic Party that treats women as equals, respecting they right, intelligence and ability with regards to pregnancy. I want this for your daughters, your wife, myself and my neighbors to retain the right to make this critical decision themselves, not have it made for them by someone like LonePalm whom they've never met and who does know their circumstance.

Lastly, I ask you to put yourself in a womanís shoes for a time and consider if you had become pregnant for whatever reason, wouldn't you want to have the final say in making your own decision as to what to do? Consider former Republican Governor Palin who said she knew during pregnancy her son had Down syndrome. After discussing it with her doctor and her husband, she CHOSE to have the baby. We would like to have the same choice option she had, and that her unwed daughter Bristol had, thatís all we insist upon. I hope you will reconsider and support women in this matter.

I ask you to try and place yourself in the place of those babies murdered before they had a chance to drawn breath. What do you think THEY would chose given the information available to you.

Every abortion stops a beating heart. Every abortion prevents the potential greatness within that soul from ever having a chance to flourish. How many Mother Theresas, Martin Luther Kings, Yoyo Mas, Jonas Salks, Albert Einsteins, Stevie Wonders, etc., etc., etc. have been discarded as medical waste because they were never given the greatest right America has to offer, LIFE.

And you think the Republicans are running a war on women? The Democrats murder them by the hundreds EVERY SINGLE DAY. You cry about Women's Rights while you slay them in the womb. That is not freedom. That is murder. In your heart of hearts you know it too.

I really have no argument with your first paragraph at all.
No reasonable person is against abortion in the case of rape ,incest or possible birth defects.
but in the case where none of the above are applicable I am torn. Who is responsible for paying for the abortion when none of the cases mentioned above is present.?
Secondly I am not aware that conservatives are against abortion when the factors mentioned above are present. It is my feeling that responsibilty for one getting "with child" just because they didn't use birth control lies with those rersponsible. Again, taxpayer funds should not be used to pay for the abortion. There are some "vaginal" responsibilty issues here thatyou failed to address.
I am a conservative. I do not know the exact defination of a "Tea Party" member is.
I am NOT anti gay. if that the lifestyle they choose thats fine just don't try to convince me its is right
I am in favor of spending tax payers onies wisely. I am against the governent lying to the american people, I am against Obamacare as NOONE knows the cost and with the defict being what it is I fear for my children and grandchildren,
If the above makes me a maber of the Tea Party so be it .
Now let me relate to you a story I heard many many years ago and it has stuck with me forever. We were dining with some good friends and she had gotten "with child".They were talking about an abortion as the possible due date was during the month they were going to St Johns for vacaton. She was considering an abortion as she didn't want to look huge in a bathing suit (and they could always get "with child" again.)
She had the abortion.
This kind was warped thinking happens and always has. And quite often
I hope this clarifies my position.
I think our differences may be unsolvable.

I cannot disagree with your first paragraph. No resonable person can deny abortion in the case of incest, rape or Possible birth defects. However we all know there are many abortions done when the above factors are not present. Maybe the majority I don't know. There is where both sides disagree.
There is some responsibility involved when one owns a vagina or penis. Sometime this responsibilty gets little attention I'm afraid.
I am a conservative. Whether I am classifed as a Tea Party member I dont know.
I am in favor of treating taxpayer onies responsibily. I am in favor of getting the deficit undercontrol so our children and grandchilden will not suffer the consequences.
I am NOT anti gay. if thats the life style they choose thats fine just dont try to convince me it right.

Lemme tell you a story. Many years ago we were having dinner with friends and they announced she was "with child". Every one gave them their congratualtions (?) BUT then the woman said well the birth date was when they would be vacationing in St Johns and she was thinking about an abortion as she didn't want to look gigantic in a bathing suit. And besides she could always get preggers again. You could have heard a pin drop.
She had the abortion.
A sideline: who is responsible for paying for the abortion? Involved parties? Taxpayers?
I think we have an insolvable problem here.
And I really see no middle ground.
I have tried to be honest here as you were

Sliceserve,

The TEA in TEA Party is an acronym for Taxed Enough Already. As such it should always be capitalized.

From my experience with the TEA Party I have found the only common denominator is a belief in strictly limited, Constitutional Government. That is, the government can only do the very few things that are PERMITTED to it. All else is forbidden. Conversely, individuals are forbidden only those few things Constitutionally allowed to be regulated by government. All else is permitted.

The corollary to this is that the government is only permitted to tax to operate those functions PERMITTED it. As such, Americans are grossly over taxed (hence the name) and regulated.

Beyond this, the TEA Party seems to have no other goals. That it is associated with the Republican Party is because these goals are an anathema to Democrats. Unfortunately there seem to be elected Republicans whole don't believe in this either.
