So, why is it that some people get a superiority complex when eating out? Why do some people feel the need to belittle others? Do they understand that the people that they are treating badly are the same people that are handling and serving their food? Not saying that I would, but I could!

I am a pretty polite and nice person anyhow. But I really agree with you. When you eat out it is probally the best time to bring your manners.

Yeah, I am always really put off by rude people who like to screw with their waiter or waitress. I see that most often with Yankee snow birds who stop off at our Sonny's in Kingsland. They act like the proverbial "ugly AMericans" visiting some quaint. exotic locale.

The questions some of those asses have about the menu would make you think they were Klingons eating their first Earth food.

However, to not speak up and ask to see the manager when you get crappy food or service is not politieness. It's cowardice that does a disservice to you and all future diners at said establishment.

Good restauratuers with pride in their offerings will recognize and appreciate a legitimate criticism offered politely and make corrections. Those who don't do not deserve your contiunued patronage.

What I am talking about is the people that walk in with their "mightier than thou" attitudes from the get go. There are good and bad waiters and waitresses no matter where you go but there are a LOT more bad cutomers than there are bad employees at these restaurants. When you walk in with the attitude, what do you think the person serving you immediately thinks? Even if you try to be the better person, some people just can't be satisfied. On another note, the people that are just looking for a reason to get a free or discounted meal. That just pisses me off. You ate the food you pay for it. If your waiter or waitress doesn't put you up on your pedastal that you think you belong on, just don't tip and don't come back. We do remember.

Some think that manners and politeness are not required when eating out. If you have a legitimate problem with your server, ask for the manager. That's what they are for, not the WELL under minimum wage paid waitstaff. You yell at me you will be in for a shock!

Have you ever worked for Linda Cagle at Steffen's? I suspect that you and she would be muy simpatico. Y'all could tell off customers as a tag team.

Nope, haven't worked with her. Not that I would tell off customers at the norm. I don't want to get fired but some might be worth it. Just saying.

Suggestion: If you aspire to being more than a waitress, strike "just saying" from your vocabulary immediately and permanently.

I can honestly say, if I was to ever be a waiter and People treated me, the way I see them treat others, they would know the taste of my ball sweat and the crack of my ass. Just sayin!!

Suggestion: I know you are probably trying to help, but, if you are going to try to offer grammar advice to anyone, please know who you are talking to first. I could not be a waitress. I wasn’t born that way. I may or may not be a waiter though. This topic has nothing to do with aspirations and everything to do about proper human interactions with others. If some of the customers at restaurants would step back and look at their behavior, some, some I say, might change their attitudes toward the service providers of any establishment. If they would not treat a family member, i.e. daughter, son or spouse like that, why would you treat a complete stranger that way. The world would be a whole lot better if people would treat others as they would want to be treated. JUST SAYING!

I'm not a trailer queen either Jay! Some people say what they say. I have noticed that when someone confronts you on your post you immediately try to berate them though. Really? Let's not lower ourselves to name calling. Back to the opening statement, everybody, just try to be a little more compassionate to your waiter or waitress next time you eat out. They have the same problems as everyone else and are entitled to a bad day every once in a while too. That's all. Again, just saying!

Jaybird has always been like that!! He berates and corrects everyone...loves to be the spelling Nazi!! Yet, when he misspells a word, it is a typo, not an error!!! Then he carries on and uses profanity...such a piece of work.

Just sayin'

It is no use arguing with MrTact
He is right and everyone else is wrong. I do miss his rants about the cashiers at Winn Dixie though. He blames all of his problems on some bad chicken that he ate. Well I can say that his demeanor hasn't changed since his affliction confined him to the electric chair he scoots around in. Well maybe he is a bit more bitter at the world.

You know, we could possibly be like him, too, if we didn't have any friends, didn't get the opportunity to interact with anyone except on a blog, had a never-ending appetite and was just a sad, pitiful person in general.
We are so lucky to be able to talk meaningfully with others and express our opinions without getting angry and belligerent. Yes, jay is a sad case indeed.

Just sayin'....
