Most people do not like it when the truth is told. They would rather have someone say it politically correct to sooth their ego.

No, on my father's side, they came over on a Spanish vessel in the early 1700's to Pensacola by order of and in service to the king of Spain.
My paternal grandmother was Maggie Lucree from Brunswick.
My maternal grandfather, Earl Sires, was of Freench ancsetry. My maternal grandmother, Sarah Saunders, was of English ancestry.
My heritage is Spanish, Irish, French, and English. I'm sure for your puposes you would prefer me to be a "wetback", or a "whop" but I'm not. If I were, I would say so.
No one "brought " me to St. Marys. It was a business related move that brought me here as a civilian. The location saved me about 1,000 miles of driving per month vice when I lived in Savannah.
Any more questions, bigoted , xenophobic, Camdenite, rednecked ass?
Oh, and as a bonus, I am not only an agnostic adult but I was forced to be a Catholic child - baptism, first communion, the whole nine yards.
Once again, you misuderstand. You are quick to disparage "yankees" and others unlike yourself. Like you, most of us are not locals and assuming Miami is a local, I'd just as soon not be identified as such. fwiw my ancestors arrived at Ellis Island.

No, I got it.
"
Your original comment: "What brought you to St Marys, Jay? Your family obviously did not come over on the Mayflower."

Unless you were under the impression that the Mayflower landed at Point Peter, the second sentence of your post #162 (above) is obviously non-sensical, ass-covering, crap.

So, tell us, "Jorge," what made you so sure that my family did not come over on the Mayflower?

What does all that have to do with SPLOST VII?(Jay, We don't give a damn where you came from: we just want you to go back there).

And once again Moreno hijacks an important thread. Vote YES on SPLOST VII or all three cities and the county will have to get those millions of dollars from the local taxpayers. If you don't vote, don't bother to whine about it when you write the checks.

Thank you, Charlie, for stating the obvious.

Only morons and TP anarchists will vote against SPLOST VII.

Some people are doing their best to promote misinformation and outright lies. They preach against SPLOST VII as if somehow failing to pass it would teach council a lesson or something. All that failing to continue SPLOST would do is screw the taxpayers. The "funniest" thing about the anti-SPLOST handful of extremists is that they hide behind "we the people" rhetoric while trying to crush the "people."
I'll post this site even though its been on here before. http://www.splost7.com/
Who knows, maybe pigs will fly and people will actually educate themselves before they talk or write.

I'm not sure about pigs flying but I know they can devour a slush fund in no time.

Go to the site you refer us to. First paragraph pertaining to St. Marys is a copy and paste from our local rag. Misleading at best. Splost 6 payed for very little of the items listed. Are they mixing splost 5 and general funds?

The original 2008 St. Marys Splost 6 list contained four categories.

1- Drainage
2- Water and Sewerage
3- Sidewalks and Streets
4- City Buildings

The first three items would account for over 81% of splost expenditures.
City Buildings would account for less than 19% of splost expenditures.
The people voted and endorsed the passing of Splost 6.

Fast forward to June 30th 2012 St. Marys financial report on projects funded with Splost 6.
http://www.ci.st-marys.ga.us/

This table indicates as of 30 June 2012;

18% of Splost 6 revenue went towards drainage, water and sewer, and sidewalks and streets.

82% of Splost 6 went to city buildings.(Orange Hall, Aquatic Center, Library, etc….)

What am I missing here?

Sufficient years on Earth to realize that years from now, you will look back upon your youthful exuberance for TP radicalism and just shake your old wizened head.

Splost 6 revenue projections were dramatically adjusted downward after the economy tanked. Some of those expenditures may have been the first that were undertaken and then with a projection adjustment many projects were deleted from the list because of a lack of funds. This is the danger of people acquiring financial information with little backup info to understand what events transpired and why. But then again those who wish to cast clouds of doubt don't really care about facts or truths. Remember SPLOST revenue projections are just that. It is what they are projected to collect not an absolute figure. So the nature of the economy effects these figures. And the accuracy of projections directly effects the projects that are completed.

So what your saying is if the splost 7 projection (the ridiculous 18 plus ) falls short their priority will be painting Orange Hall, keeping the aquatic park afloat and funding other special interest projects instead of paying off the water/sewer bond. That's what I believe also.

How can you trust a City Council that promised over eighty cents on the dollar for infrastructure and winds up giving you less than eighteen cents. Is there a specific plan in place that guarantee's any of splost seven revenue will go to pay down the fourty four million dollar debt?

Charlie, Moreno, Reasons, and other who support splost 7. Your argument for the passage of splost 7 is what? Name calling. No facts, no numbers, promises broken just like the current City Council. Remember folks it was the council that got us into this mess again the advice of people who work with real numbers. No one with the exception of Chuck Trader has been held accountable. The Mayors slush fund ends.

I see.

This is all about punishing those who have so far escaped punishment.

That and Jeremy's take-no-prisoners, screw-the- truth, screw-the-tax-payers, "big lie"-based mayoral campaign.

It's all about stopping my hard earned tax dollars being pissed away by a select few. After your typical name calling attack (boring at best) how about a list of the positives from splost six.
