So, does that mean that between his judge's salry and the medical insurance to cover his current and future morbidly obese health costs, he will actually be financially better off closing his "very successful law practice" and taking the judgeship and benefits?
Does anyone know why Jim Stein is so hell bent on putting this guy into office?
Maybe he figures that would open up another judgeship that does not need to be elected.

Same reason every other lawyer in the county wants him elected Jay. There were a pile of them at his cookout today. Beau is the only qualified candidate.

And yet, strangely, only Charlie Smith made a cameo appaearance at
fellow attorney Robbie Morgan's cookout.

Why?

It's simple, really.

"Judge" Shirley was the odds on favorite. Watching out for their own financial interests, these same attorneys who now support Beau, didn't dare campaign for the losing side.

Now, there is no incumbent judge so it is in the attorney's financial interest to back Beau. If they did not and he won, they would be screwed before him in Probate Court. If they did not and he lost, they would be screwed before him in Kingsland City Court.

Attorneys are a lot of things but incognizant of thier own best interest is not one of them. Peddle that professional responsibility crap to the bubbas. I'm not buying it.

You're kind of stretching it a bit Jay, is the judge going to refuse to probate a will because an attorney failed to eat BBQ with him? There hasn't been a lawyer in traffic court in your lifetime. So how are all the attorneys going to be screwed? I think the only thing "simple, really" is your attempt at pretending to know it all.

So true! Add to that we definitely don't need one that has Jim Stein operating his strings. Jim Stein was been very instrumental in getting Shirley to take the fall so that Martin wouldn't be investigated. No one in County government to this day has requested a forensic audit of the Probate Office. Therefore it is most imperative that the corrupt system of Camden control the "ass" that fills that seat!!!

Camden County would be much more prosperous, with a very low millage rate and better quality of life if people like Jim Stein did NOT exist!!!!

You give Stein way too much credit as some kind of power broker. Nobody takes him seriously other than himself.

I think you are wrong on the traffic court. They are in Kingsland all the time. Since there is no state court you would be correct on that aspect.

I would have inject this proposal into this argument. You have traffic courts in St. Marys, Kingsland, and County through Probate Court. Now if you were to consolidate all the law enforcement countywide into one agency then you could eliminate those 3 traffic courts and then and only then would it be fiscal responsible to start and operate a state court.
Enough is enough

When you're seeking Gubernatorial, Senate and Congressional seats and you are assured a win via the corrupt voting system of Camden it gives one certain leverages! Stein did not negotiate the deal for Martin/Shirley in the best interest of the community. He negotiated it in the best interest of his Republican counterparts. No investigation at the County level on how much was actually stolen from the Probate Office.

The covergae of the Repubican's Saturday morning candidates forum, MCed by Jeremy Spencer, on page 3-A of today's (3/6/2013) us a must read.

From the coverage:

When asked about her personal
financial situation,
Crews said she and her
spouse both work and are financially
secure, meaning she
is not running for probate
judge in order to secure the
salary.
“I will be a good financial
steward of the taxpayers’
money,” she said.
When asked how her religious
life would guide her
work in probate, Crews said
she believes her faith gives
her the ability to have compassion
and empathy for
those who come into court
while still considering the
facts of each case.

So, Jeremy Spencer, a former Agapebot, had the gaul
to not only question each candidate's financail situation, but, farmore alarmingly, flagrantly forced each candidate to submit to a religious litmus test.

It is plain to me that Spencer was pulling for the, uh, Revverend Martin Turner just a sure as Candy Crowley was pulling for Obama.

Ed Clary, I'm sure you were sorely missed.

What do y'all think of this practice?

When I first came here, the local Repuublican party had been hijacked by "born again," right-to-life nuts, led by Elliot Foss.

Then came a relatively secular but do nothing period.

Now, we have the worst of both the fundamentalist would-be theocrats AND the anarchistic Tea Partiers
COMBINED- led by the Spencers with the backing and encouragement of the Agapebots.

Jeremy Spencer for St. Marys City council.

Remove another of the five in the middle tax and spend councilmen that gave us the 44 million dollar water/sewer bond. Chucky Traiter needs some company.

More from today's T&G coverage of Saturday's candidates' forum:

Martin Turner
Business co-owner Martin
Turner of St. Marys said he
has a clear view of the probate
judge position.
“This job is administrative;
this job is ministerial; this job
is judicial,” he said.“You’ve
got to have common sense ...
and you’ve got to have a
heart.”
His work and life experiences
— including accompanying
his grandson to probate
court after the grandson lost
his father — make him the
best candidate for the position,
Turner said.
“I understand people’s
hearts,” he said.
A former pastor, Turner
said he treats everyone the
same and believes in justice
with mercy.

This job is "ministerial!?"

I see.

So Jesus has no doubt placed the Probate Court "ministry" on Rev/Judge Turner's heart.
Praise the Lord.

What a deal. You get a judge and a minister for the same vote. I wonder if there will be a collection plate passed when court is in session?

Was it Churchill who said "Piety is the last refuge of scoundrels" or words to that effect.
