My opinion about the election is....talk Shawn Silas-Wise into running for a board member position. She would "kick butt" and be fair to all involved. She is a sweet person that has some "kicking power" when needed. As for the others, I think one or two in particular should not run for re-election. They/she needs to let the mayor and the police do their job, and not try to "question" the police chief in a public meeting about the city vehicles. Maybe they CAN'T say what they are doing with them because it might be "undercover"?????? The police cheif is a smart guy, and he is not going to tell her in a public meeting if something is going on. Anyway, just my opinion.........

who is Shawn Silas-Wise, what board seat is this person running for, and which mayor and police chief is supposed to be affected?? Does this have anything to do with the mayoral election in Granite City??

Sorry, this is actually the one in Venice. Ms. Wise is from there as well, and is a well-respected person. I know some people complain about "the police" and how they don't do their job, etc..but, what about the ones that actually DO work their rump off every day down there? I just feel bad for them.

Ah, Thank You kindly for bringing me up to speed. Since this is Venice and I actually live in Granite City, I should have known this. I don't keep up with things socially speaking. I'm a bit behind the times. One thing I am aware of is the police in Venice don't get paid too well. Again, thanks for your response.

You might want to check out today's Belleville News-Democrat and St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Article in there about gasoline purchases.

Speaking of cops that aren't paid what they deserve. Didn't we just host several cops who get more than they deserve this weekend. It's digusting that they came to Pontoon Beach to beat up one of their own guys, shoot up another cop and aim a gun at one of our PBPD so he had to shoot him. St. Louis shouldn't be shipping its trash across the river. Kudo's to Pontoon Beach Police.

I'm just talking about the ones that get out and "work like dogs" to protect us and get only "general compensation" for it. Personally, I don't think wearing a badge classifies a person as "trash" ANYWHERE, unless you abuse it..

If you vote for me I vow to hand out free condoms at the high school, give the heroin addicts clean needles, allow those on foodstamps to not take drug test and be able to buy beer and cigs with their cards.
