So I've talked about Power Lunch here before. A few of us from work go over to church on Wednesdays where lunch is served and the pastor gives a mini sermon.

I just got hit on there. Is no place sacred? Am I safe nowhere?

Another guy asked one of my co-workers if she was going to finish her carrots, he wanted them.

Weird day.

Advice columnists often advise people to head to church to meet available people, but I think the idea is to get to know them, not hit on the first hot chick they encounter.

Pearl Jam is coming to Wrigley in July. Friend who works for the Cubs has promised us tickets. Every time she has promised, she has delivered. Soooooooo excited!

Unfortunately, some people have to be told every. single. step.

Here's what happened. The group of us who regularly go are me, T, and M (all female) from our office and M's husband J (who works elsewhere). We always sit at the same table and once in awhile, strangers join us but we usually have the table to ourselves.

This guy sat at our table, along with the carrot guy and another girl. After the meal and sermon, he chatted us all up, asked us where we work, etc. Not out of the ordinary. The subject got around to college football, we're all joking around a little. In hindsight, he was directing his questions mostly to me, but I'm Captain Oblivious sometimes so I didn't pick up on the early signals like my friends did.

So all of a sudden the guy asks me what my situation is and if I'm single. I answered that I'm technically single but not on the market. Yes, I used that phrase. But in my defense, I didn't have time to formulate a better answer. All of this took place within a few minutes. So anyway, we all said goodbye and that we'll probably see each other next week.

Overall, it was forward but not creepy. Somewhat awkward for me but that's just me.

The carrot thing was way stranger.

Oh, and the carrot guy and new girl knew each other but the other guy didn't know anyone. So I can't hold an affiliation with the carrot guy against him.

I would ask a good friend for some of their food if they weren't going to eat it but a stranger? Um, no.

Sam: I am not a pearl jam fan -- I like 'em, I respect 'em, but I don't own any of their music. I have a few songs I really like ("Better Man" is one of my favorite songs ever). But I took a friend to their show for her birthday and I have to say, it probably is the best concert I've ever been to as far as performance, sound quality, etc. And to see all of the guitarists get a shot at doing lead guitar lines and solos -- the lead guitarist is a generous guy about that.

You'll love it.

I have it for Xbox. I haven't played for 6 months tho ... I got bored. While the missions are different ... It's kinda like doing the same thing over and over and over again. I've pretty much only been playing CoD Black Ops 2. I rock that game.

I am so excited. What are your thoughts on Eddie Vedder's solo stuff, like from Into the Wild, etc.? And my favorite song by PJ is Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town. If I could recommend one song, that would be it. The live version is spectacular.

Other than Queen, who would be your favorite group/person to see in concert?

I have seen other concerts at Wrigley and it is awesome, especially on a nice night. If I to choose between a) ALL the concerts I have seen there and b) Just Pearl Jam, I would choose b).

Good luck getting tickets! They go on sale at 10 on Feb. 9 at tickets.com .

I was sitting on the train on the way to work the other day minding my own business (playing solitare on my phone). I keep little candies so when I get thirsty I have something to pop in my mouth that won't make me pee. I hate the train bathrooms. I had some Cherry Lifesavers in the side pocket of my purse. I got my lifesavers out to have one. The guy next to me, who I do not know, ask me for one. I let him have one (it's only a lifesaver) but I did think it was strange that he'd ask.

PJ also had a rockin' more metal song that had an animated video to go with it, I remember it had to do with computers taking over humans and the world. Loved that song, but never tracked the title or anything. Tonka probably knows what I"m talking about.

Heart is wonderful in concert. The New Pornographers with Neko Case. Neko Case. Jason Mraz is one of the best performers I've ever seen -- his live shows are nothing like that schmalzy slow crap they play on the radio -- he has horn sections and does a lot of early '70s funk style music, it's great, very high energy.

Heh. I would ask a stranger for mint or gum for my breath, or a kleenex. I always as a mom-looking person with a big purse. Moms carry everything.

Texting J about it now. His birthday is that weekend. We could plop the dogs off at my dad's, get a hotel in the city.

Girls that I didn't know in high school would always ask me if I had any gum. Yep. Can you have any? Nope.

I haven't, but I would. Individually wrapped items are fair game.

But asking a stranger for food off of their plate is WEIRD.
