He admits he chugged vodka before leaving in his car. I think this man needs to be in jail just because of that alone. Now add in that two innocent people who DID NOT CHUG VODKA, before the drove are dead.
Very sad story and disturbing this guy is trying to defend his drinking and driving.

Its ashame how people are dying day by day over something that is stuoid. People know they are not suppose to drink in drive even if you drink before you drive its also dangerous. You are putting your life in danger and other people lives in danger. Its important that you think before you do things predict things will happen before you do it thats the best way.

My thoughts and prayers to the family at this time. Having to live through that nightmare is so sad.
As for this guy - he obviously had a drinking problem.
The only reason he was acting out of the ordinary later on is because he didn't have the alcohol in his system.
He was out of his norm.
This is a sad situation for everyone involved.

He admits drinking. He kills 2 innocent people. He is not doing jail time? I feel sorry for this country 50 years from now.

Defense attorneys Ernest Blomquist and Scott Anderson are trying to show that Ulmer was not intoxicated at the time of the crash and did not show any symptoms of inebriation.

I just PRAY that one day that these defense attorneys are on the other side of these cases!!

this guy KILLED 2 people and they want him to get off, I am sure that drinking Vodka out of the bottle had nothing to do with it

tonight I am going to pray for an eye for an eye

I live in this man's neighborhood and get to see him outside cutting his grass every week. It makes me sick. Two people died needlessly and left behind a devastated family. How do you drive from Gilberts to Barrington Hills and not be affected by half a bottle of vodka at 9:00 a.m. on an empty stomach? Give me a break. He's had two DUIs in two different states - how did he ever get an Illinois drivers license? This man needs to go to prison NOW!

I was one of the jurors, and it was very hard to stay off the computer; but the trial is over.......... It was very hard, the hardest thing that i have ever been through. Ulmer sat lifeless, he had no emotion after the judge read.....GULTY. The most touching thing for me was, as i was walking to my car, after the trial, Brenda's youngest son drove by and said "thank you." I wish I could tell him "sorry."

i am the oldest son of brenda and was in the car when we saw the jury walk out the courthouse we were uncertain of our ability to talk with you. i would have loved to get out the car and hug each and every one of you and my aunt grandma and brother would have too. we are extremely grateful and appreciative of your decision. we all wish all of you did not have to go through all this. WE THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!!!!

i had a feeling that justice would prevail, especially since that loser did not have a leg to stand on.it will not bring back eddie and brenda ,but it is reassuring to know that from yesterday and on he will never be in the comforts of his own home.he will be in a cold hard cell and hopefully he will get the maximum and die in jail.being the husband of eddies sister,i had to see first hand how this affected the family asnd i have no remorse for drunk, driving, murderer ulmer. rot in jail ***hole!!!!!

Any good alcoholic knows that drinking and driving is a risk, and yet they choose to do it anyway. This guy needs to be in jail charged with two counts of murder, DUI, and general stupidity.

Just wait and see how far a jury will listen to this rubbish, he will be convicted of whatever he is charged with soon enough. Stupid is not an excuse!
