why does it take six hours to clear up an accident? i don't care if it's a criminal investigation- cops need to move a helluva lot quicker and get those people who are stranded along their way again.

It takes so long to clean up an accident thats called a criminal investigation. Because they need to get all the evidence that is there and recreate the accident so they know what happened and how it happened. If people were smart they would read the signs that say accident or listen to 1060 to find out what's going on. Only thing i wish that was done differently is that the police would have blocked off the road before you got there so that it wouldn't be such a big back up and then have people slowly back up and exit at a different exit

Does is really matter how long it takes...
somebody was killed... decapitated no less. In the third picture if you look
all the way to the right you will see his body covered with a white sheet and the head is next to the vehicle also covered.
I can't get the image out of my head... my prayers go out to his family. I hope the woman pulls threw.
After seeing this crash this morning... I will never drive without my sealtbelt again!! He flew right threw the dashboard window and she went out the passenger window.

Once it is cleared the evidence is gone forever. A better idea is if people would slow the heck down so they don't have "accidents".

I don't see a head. I see a body on the right, and closer to the viewer is another covered "item". The news hasn't said anything about decapitation, though.

Um, Maureen? I was responding to poster #3 who insists that he was decapitated. I'm disputing what he/she said, that's all. I know he got run over, but this person said he/she saw the "head". Sheesh

I was extrememly frustrated to see that it took like six hours for them to clean up. Stuck in endless traffic for about an hour, minor accidents seemed to happen all over. A coach bus hit a compact vehicle..what a nightmare..
someone even fell asleep while waiting in the lanes, and the front driver had to leave his vehicle to wake up the sleeping driver. I don 't blame him; the long wait was horrendously dull.
what makes me mad the most is that some random dude was DUI, which caused a terrible accident at the expense of someone's life, and has injured another. Plus, most waiting cars weren't happy wasting their precious gas waiting in sluggish lanes on a hot summer morning. To sum the I-95 accident up, it was..really unnecessary, to the pick up operators and the public.

Everyday people complain about I-95 it's not the highway it's the drivers...I ride on it everyday the state police are trying but these guys slow down as soon as they see them....There are the crotch riders on their bikes that weave in and out doing at least 90 they slow sown & pick up sometimes there is 6 or more of them....they start out at exit 44 and go all the way down in & out their not going to be the trauma just like today it is always someone else....I say let the state police crack down harder and more of them

My husband and I were were going south when the accident happened. The maniac was driving in and out between the cars and then all of sudden there was just total sheer terror. We were about 2 cars behind the truck when it just twisted into the air and went to the other side of the highway. It's amazing that nobody was killed going the other way.

The poor lady was lying in a pool of blood, it was very scary. This was all on our side of the road.
I know it's hard to hear but it is true about that man's head. I could not bare to look but my husband saw it and they were all screaming on the other side of the median.
The whole scene was pretty chaotic. Lucky for that lady there was an ambulance that was right there in the traffic when all this happened so they were able to attend to her within seconds.
DRIVE SAFE!

That is really scary. I wonder why the police or news media haven't said anything about the decapitation? Back in the 80's, a woman was killed on City Line Avenue because of some drag racers, and she was decapitated, too. I knew her, and that was the saddest day of my life.

It is ashame no one called 911 from a cell phone giving license plate number, location and direction the driver was going seeing he was driving out of control.

We need more police presents on these highways. There are two many fatal accidents due to drunk drivers. Last year I experience a man driving his car on 476 weaving from one side of the road to another. I notified police via cell phone, but I don't know if they responded.

Maybe we should adopt the policy that they use in Florida: Take pictures, move everything to the shoulders of the highway, take statements, and investigate.Life goes on.

It is really sad that some one would drink and then get behind the wheel of a car.And then on top of that speed, drive reckless and have no type of regard for human life.I am a truck driver who lives in south philly area and i was a stranded in the traffic for at least 2 and half hours yesterday. My heart is hurting rite now over the sincless loss of life. And my heart goes out to the victims and family of all that were involed directly and indirectly.Wake up people and stop being so selfish.

You ever notice that when there is an accident involving a drunk driver, the drunk driver is never injured. The innocent always end up dead or seriously hurt.
