Enough with Citizen Con! Blah, Blah, Blee-Blah Blah Blah. Yawn! What were we talking about again? Oh yes, Howard Kramer's quote "If I would still be on the board, I would not vote in favor of selling the Schaefferstown building." Anyone OTHER THAN Concerned(yawn)Citizen?

I thought I was back in the Middle School again. I think he's one of the old board who got voted off last May. I'll bet it's that fake architect.

Those willing to settle for mediocrity are the ones taking up the banner of “no new school”. The uninformed or misinformed continue to show their ignorance within these posts. The good news is this board’s contribution to the children of the ELCO district is rising like a Phoenix on the school’s campus. The shortsighted few who continue to rail against this building will, within months of it’s opening never darken the doorway of this district again and that’s the good news. Lay people are not expected to understand the intricacies of processes that are foreign to them. Said people should listen more closely to the educated leaders who have invested heavily in their field. Those who wish to try, by immature means, false statements or other foolish blather to degrade or belittle the educated decision makers only hasten their acceptance as pure rabble to the population. No one will ever take you seriously, ever. So continue with your quaver. Only your hand-picked few are in attendance.

My wife and I have been looking for a new house for a while. This fiasco wasn't the impetus. It is just time to upgrade. We are very excited that we found one today. If all goes well, we will be moving in soon. However, it is outside of the ELCO district.
I am taking my tax dollars elsewhere. They are going to fund a school system where the residents are appreciative of quality. It shows in the buildings, facilities, and success of the students.
Some day, your kids are going to be shining my child's shoes. The question of their station in life will inevitably arise. The answer will be plain and simple. It comes from upbringing. An upbringing within under funded and misguided schools. When parents are so blinded by petty and worthless grievances, their children suffer. Who needs new, exciting, and exceptional learning institutions? Who needs them when your children can learn everything they need to know from "you lot?" They will get full courses in how to drift aimlessly through life, focusing on unimportant and counterproductive minutia. It will set them up firmly to breed, send their own children off to school, all the while moaning about some perceived injustice. Of course, this perception will neither be pertinent nor bolstering toward goals and values that could actually make a difference.
Stop squabbling over your children's future like it is a price tag at Wal-Mart. Stop fighting tooth and nail for these petty causes. Great schools cost money, real money. Building great schools is hard work. Just like baking a cake, you have to break some eggs in the process. Nobody is going to starve because of 10% tax increases. Nobody would starve with 20% increases. What you will get though are some new, exciting, and exceptional schools.
Goodbye and good riddance!

With all that arrogance, "Concerned Citizen" HAS to be a voted off board member. You really think your smarter than everyone else? Ha Ha Ha!

I don't think I am smarter than you. I am not comparing myself to you in what I am writing. You may feel that I am smarter than you and in turn, because you feel it, you infer that is what I am saying. I am only pointing out a better path we should take.
I am not even saying that you are dumb. Your decisions and actions are what scream to everyone that you are dumb. Dumb, not in comparison to me, but in comparison to general and accepted measures of intelligence. It isn't too late to change though. You could start to make decisions that place you in a becoming light. You can start taking actions that show the world you are an effective and efficient member of the community.
It has always been your choice to show the world who you are. When you choose wisely, you appear wise. When you choose poorly, well, we can all see what happens.

It is funny how you feel so insulted. It is odd how you feel that I take positions simply out of arrogance.
I understand that you are completely free to think, say, and do almost anything you choose. Within the boundaries of the law of course. That is the beauty of freedom and liberty.
However, what most freedom and liberty loving people miss is the other side of the coin. When presented with true liberty, you are also presented with some very serious responsibilities. These responsibilities include not only the upkeep of your own house and home, but also the upkeep of the community around you. No single individual can build roads, schools, and bridges. It has to be done together. If you want to buck your responsibilities of helping to keep the greater community stocked with exceptional infrastructure, then maybe you need to reevaluate your entitlement to liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Well, other than the part about your children.

You touched on an important fact. Upkeep. The schools assets weren't kept in good repair costing the taxpayers money. Also, not the cleanest environment for the children to learn in. Do you think that the old board should be in charge of a new school when they didn't take care of the old ones? I didn't buck my responsibilities. I did the research and made sound decisions. It seems as though many of the district are in agreement with me. You and your silent majority can just run along now.

check ur facts you are once again travelling the road of misinformed or mislead. I would suggest, if your claim that the district has not properly maintained said buildings, you challenge the district to prove your claim. One can easily sit idly by and cast dispersions, however without proper evidence, how can you make such statements? Have you gone to the district and asked for maintenance reports to support your allegations? I suspect not. Can you back up your statement that lack of maintenance has cost the taxpayers money? I again think not. Of course, as you perpetuate your falsehoods some will eventually believe your babbling. Your charges are, like everything else leveled against the district false, misleading and of absolutely no merit. As my Hull, England buddy would say,“nothing more than pure rubbish”.

1. The county SEO had to come to SE to oversee the sewage problem. Public was told that the drainfield needed to dry out. Turns out two pipes were not connected. Liquid had not been getting to the drainfield for some time. Sewer water puddle by the kitchen door went away. The district was getting the holding tanks pumped frequently to avoid having to find out the problem which was inexpensive to fix. 2. I guess you weren't at the meeting attended by hundreds of residents where several teachers spoke about mold, leaking windows and covering bookcases with plastic during rain storms. You are either a board member or someone very close to one because no one bought what you were selling before and no one's buying it now.

You are either a board member or someone very close to one because no one bought what you were selling before and no one's buying it now. There is a reason why, when you look around, all the streets aren't lined with 200 year old buildings. Even 100 year old buildings are hard to come by. Why aren't the majority of institutions run from old buildings? This is because old buildings are inefficient, expensive, and at times, impossible to maintain. There is little sense in trying to maintain a landmark when it is needed to perform as a working and functional modern school. In education, there is also a need for modern facilities. Computers, networking, connectivity, and media are more necessary than ever. Do you know what retrofitting a building that hasn't been designed to be retrofitted is like? Only the most prestigious schools and universities have the privileged of working within these types of buildings. Most often, this is simply due to funding. When these buildings were built and throughout their lifetime, they have been lavished with care. When you cut corners and penny pinch to save money, this becomes impossible. If you want beautiful brick work, ivy covered walls, but a manageable electricity or heating bill, you need serious resources and commitment from the community charged with maintaining those buildings. Without that, you run the risk of allowing a building to become unmaintainable. This isn't a failure of a few at the top. This is a failure of the community as a whole not taking responsibility for the problems when the tax man comes knocking. Don't even get me started on modern classrooms and facilities that our students need here in the 21st century.
