SPALDING Flags have been flying at half-staff in Spalding since the death of Chris Pfeifer, who died on Tuesday as the result of wounds he received while serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. via Grand Island Independent

We are so saddened to hear about the loss of Chris. We wish we had known he and his family were at BAMC in San Antonio because we have been there with our Son since the first of the month. He was seriously injured in Iraq the first part of Sept. by an IED. He just returned home a few days ago and would have liked to meet his family. My husband and I are originally from Ansley, NE and Taylor, NE so this is close to home for us too. Please let the family know how we pray for all of them. Jim and Cherry
