Is it possible APS demands LARGE deposits from those that have not paid them before?

I will be very interested in the outcome of this. I'm like APS in some ways - everytime I get turned on I leave a huge deposit as well.

Same problem everybody should give phone number and contact each person and all get together and have the news station investigate.

APS knows damn well when poor people get their checks and they refuse to adapt their bill cycle to when we get our checks. Many of us no longer have the income margin to pay when they demand payment - no, we have to wait till we get our check in order to pay the bill. In this way APS creates a false late payment history for many. Then they charge the huge extra deposit - me and my neighbors had to pay $690 to keep our electric on. Some of us have been here for decades and are trying to live on Social Security only since all our other incomes have been legally stolen from us. What I don't get is how come our summer electric bill in this slum that we have to rent where the AC doesn't ever even go into any of the bedrooms, averages just shy of $700 per month yet nearby there are small farms where people run swimming pools and swamp coolers in their chicken coops and barns - and their electric with APS has never run higher than $320 in the summer?

Has anyone else gotten a bill for a huge deposit from APS after already having power with them? I just got laid off last month and was a few days late on my bill, now this month I get a bill for a $440. deposit or my power will be shut off? My normal bill was already paid in full before I got this deposit letter too? I've had services with them for 7 months and I'm just now getting a deposit? Can someone tell me how they can charge these deposits this late in the game, SRP never did this to me!

I am thinking about retiring to Arizona and would like to know approximately how much the electric bills average on a monthy basis. Also, what is a typical bill during the summer months?
I am thinking about buying a home in the 1200-1500 square foot range.
Thanks.
Dont retire to arizona like me. There are many many hidden charges. I recommend anywhere else, but phoenix is the worst ( maricopa county) some other counties are not so bad. Id say dont do it retire in colorado is better

Yeah if this is really the owner of aps why do you run a criminal business? I have a 975 credit score and found it quite offensive to being charged a deposit. It really makes people hate aps when your company uses mafia tactics. My senior fraud department at American Express (a good company) thought your deposit charge was fraud. I say save your proof people because one day there will be a class action lawsuit

Nope, don't work for them. Don't own any stock of theirs either. My deposit was $50.00 for my first year.

The solution is to pay your bills on time...APS is protecting themselves, just like a credit card company hiking up rates when you miss a payment. We do not live in a socialist society where everything is taken care of for you.

Although thanks to Obama we now have somewhat of a health safety net, everyone making under 200k a year should write a letter of gratitude for our president, the countless lives that are/will be saved...

What I can't understand is that my husband actually just got hired on with APS and we are now relocating from California where he used to work for SCE. We own a home in California and are about to close on a home in Verrado but when he called to change the services over into his name they are claiming they need a deposit of $300 to turn the services on. How is it possible that our current electric bill in California has been on in his name for years and we are buying a home for $255,000, currently have another home in Southern California that's almost $300,000, the bank seems to think his credit is good enough to purchase 2 homes yet APS who is his employer seems to think it's not good enough to handle paying the electric bill? What a scam!!
