Gets a little crowded in the winter. Otherwise, they bring the mail to my door every day.
Thanks! Do you know what the typical rates for homeowners insurance might be in Sun City?

No, I even don't recall off hand what I pay.
Go to any insurance site and type in an address to get a quote.

These Sun City threads attract a few terribly bitter people who no doubt have stories to tell, but I have never seen any point in it.

I know some people who have visited Sun City and they said it is really nice there for retirees, and the cost of living is low as well. I guess there are always people with attitudes no matter where you go!

It is the cheapest place I know of to live, but my house is paid for and I have few expenses. You might find parts of Florida a little cheaper because of their property tax homestead exemption, but last I saw, a few years ago, it was rare to find a property that was cheap enough to be entirely exempt, although the numbers may have changed. I'd rather have the dry heat.

Sun City is worst in air & noise pollution. What even bad is the hypocrite Republicans who voted no to stimulus package yet they took it any way. that is why grand avenue toward Sun City is now under construction. Unlike the Republicans in Montana, we stick to our principle. Our politicians did not participate to this stimulus package because we do not want to pay it back later in even greater cost.

when I moved here I had no idea that the recreation centers would become to me a thorn in my side. I am too busy and my schedule does not allow for me to participate. nevertheless, I still have to pay the yearly fees in order to live here and not be hasseled.
I am struggling to find the money to pay this fee, but do you think anyone among the recreation centers give a hoot. All they want is their money, they don't care who they hurt.

I agree.
I would, however, point out that it's still cheaper than moving to Peoria, Glendale, Surprise, or most anywhere else.

Yep Sun City is the best deal going. Rec Center fees are discussed up front and in the declarations everyone gets.

Is it less expensive in Sun City than in Sun City West?

The houses seem to be a little bigger and perhaps a bit more expensive in Sun City West, but I don't know the averages. A more pricey property would have higher taxes, but I believe the arrangements are the same.

If I recall correctly West has higher taxes, rec center fees and water rates.

The only reason the taxes would be higher, as far as I know, would be a higher property assessment, but I don't know.

The worst thing about Sun City is the "SNOWBIRDS", they all drive like they are back home where ever that is ... They cause accidents and then say what terrible people there is in Sun City ... The SNOWBIRDS think that without them Sun City or Arizona would cease to exist ... I think all of the SNOWBIRDS should stay the hell where ever home is for a few years (10 minumum) and lets see if Arizona and or Sun City is still around after they don't came back and create havoc here ...

I love them all. They go away half the year and still pay their fees and taxes which is a considerable weight off my wallet and they drive as well as any Arizonan, maybe a bit more aggressively, but that is the style in many places---go visit New Orleans some day. Besides, the come from Minnesota and Michigan and other nice liberal states.

Welcome back and stay as long as you like.

I have been all over the United States and no they are not taking any load off of your or my wallet, they actually cost us in the long run ... I guess you would have to figure that out for yourself ... I don't like the Snowbirds even a little bit and wish the hell they would all go to Florida so we could get some peace around here and a lot less accidents ...

You'll have to explain why having half the popylation absent for half the year, not using services of facilities, not wearing out the roads or the sidewalks, but still paying their share is going to cost me more. I don't get it.
