Wittmann seems to have improved since I left back in 2001. I see structured sentences, a push for a better life, and my freaking god you guys are talking POLITICS!
Ahem, I'm getting off topic here. Cags, I grew up in Wittmann and my parents still live there. Besides a few houses that liked to play their music too loudly at night, there weren't a lot of problems with crime. If you go to Google.com and compare the crime rate/happenings in Wittmann to...let's say...Apache Junction, you'll find that Wittmann has less crime...and it's essentially the same town. I would say Apache Junction has a bit more to offer as far as shopping goes...but you have to drive about 20 minutes or so go get to it.
Essentially, I don't think you'll have any problems in Wittmann with crime that you wouldn't have in any other small town you chose to live in.
THAT being said...live in Surprise. Crime rate is actually bigger according to the numbers I'm looking at...but it's NICER.
Wittmann is an old old town...and it's falling apart in various areas. Where there used to be Jays, Texaco, Pizza Hut, and a movie rental shop...now there's just one run down Korean store with few things to select from. Then again, I grew up on PaloVerde street...I still call the other part of Wittmann, anything beyond where the Post Office is, and anywhere past Nadaburg School, Chaparelle.
To sum all of this up, because I got to talking about old school Wittmann, just don't live there.
The history that was Wittmann, AZ is slowly dying away...and the town is going with it.
I think someone else said it on this forum, it's becoming the slums of Surprise...but before Surprise grew...Wittmann was a nice town.
Anyone else remember that? When there was a bridge to cross Grand Avenue? When Jay wasn't a murderer? When the little video shop let me rent Land Before Time over and over again? When the Little Red School house still had the kindergarten classes in it? Mrs. Adams and her beautiful booming voice in 1st grade? Mr. Steven Yokoboski. Best principal ever.
Good luck Cags! I hope you find a nice place to live soon!

No matter where you go you have to deal with someone who doesn't know how to live and act right. I miss living there. I live in town now, for many years. I miss the stars, fresh air, the clean well water. I lived there when the whole town thrived. Post office, gastations bars. and a couple of restraunts. I have passed through it and saddened by all that is gone. I do know some that are still there and what the town has become. I have seen so many changes. I lived there at 3yrs untill adulthood so those who choose live there please enjoy. Just wish you could experience the town when it was alive

We have lived in Wittmann, AZ for almost 4 1/2 years now. And honestly you could NOT Pay me enough to move back towards town. The schools are very good, teachers are awesome. All my children have excelled while being in school here. However the HS in wickenburg leaves little to be desired but I suppose that is with any HS. Neighbors are very good and friendly always willing to help you in anyway possible. We moved out here not knowing a soul and that has changed and have made some great life long friends. Its nice to know my children can go play outside without having to duck bullets or worry about being kidnapped. Its nice to look outside at night and see stars, or go outside on a nice clear day and see nothing but mountains. Instead of my neighbors windows. We lived in surprise for a year before moving out here and I DO NOT MISS IT. Do NOT MISS The hoa's or all the rules as to what you can do and say. Crime rate, well we have three dogs, two very large ones, to be honest we have no worries. Yes there are some out here that are less than desirable folks, BUT show ONE town that doesnt have that. You just need to be smart and stay away from them. Its a nice place to live and raise a family.

A few facts about Wittmann:
1) The average IQ of a Wittmann resident is slightly less than the speed limit through town;
2) Approximately 1/2 of the children 16 and younger are considered "special needs" by the school system;
3) A lot of Wittmann women are "10s" but in Wittmann terms that's a "4" who give you a 6-pack;
4) Success in Wittmann is a double-wide trailer with a big shed (for the meth lab).

I've heard that the cop's who live in Wittmann are the owners of the meth labs, and their wives have a social group called " the Wittmann women of the streets" is that true?. J.W. Simms.

Was anyone else the victim of petty theft Sunday night? They stole our hoses AND yanked our locking mailbox right out of the ground with their vehicle.

I live in Wittmann, nice and quiet. Got an acre or so, but only because I can't affors 300 acres, my preferred distance from neighbors....
Not sure how people can live in the cities, but most people are not from AZ anyway....that sucks. just open my garage, grab a quad or the jeep head out to over 100 miles of open desert, where the stars light up the sky....very quiet, very peaceful....very cool.
