Granted, he should not be smoking in a school...

However....

Isn't it mandatory BY LAW that the cigarettes sold in Illinois be Fire Safe?

This may be an indication that they are more unsafe than regular cigarettes.

Okay, I go the the high school in Nokomis and am fully tuned in to every angle of this. First off, Darold Johnson is one of the best janitors in the world. None of the students care about this slip-up; I don't remember any prior to this. Also, we have special areas where people can smoke. No, I don't think they should be there, but they are. And to answer "concern citizen"'s question: This guy still has a job because we in Nokomis are forgiving people and we understand. People make mistakes, big deal. He apologized and is heading up the repair process. There's nothing wrong with this picture, either. If anything, Nokomis is just demonstrating what a close-knit town we are because we've all come together. I wish it was easier to understand for you all, but this the truth.

I have lived here for 3 years and the people are forgiving. It's a good thing. As I was raised. Don't judge some just cause of a little mistake. I forgive him.

Yea he still works there no reason for him not to accidents happen. He lives right next to me and also a hunting buddy. If you all had were married and your wife was cooking and she Burnt up the kitchen would you honestly throw her out. He'll no you wouldn't. It is scientifically not possible for accidents not to happen. They are going to no matter how hard you try to prevent them.

He just did what many stupid cigarette smokers do every day. People have been know to die due to lit ciggs getting chucked. Glad to hear no one died because he acted stupid.

The fact that the only thing that was downthere was the boiler. i believe if he did it, it was in the right place to do it. The school didn't burn down, there was some smoke damage and the boiler was messed up. that is all.
