Vavol you are a poor excuse for a human being, you try to make it sound like anyone working as a waitress is some sort of white trash living on welfare. I guess if that was true they are damned if the do and damned if they don't, but for your information some of these woman my be working to help there family out with hard times that everyone is having, so if you can't afford to tip than stay home. You should be very glad they don't know who you are, in which they will eventually. I know a waitress she tells me stories of the same people they come in day after day and never tip but you can only guess what they get for that a big goober in there nice cold sweet tea... And my opinion I hope they choke on it, so keep up the good work you may get to choke soon also...Blahaahaa!!!

they knew how much they was going to make when they took the job. its not my responsibility to pay them for doing the job they are hired and paid for already. there are plenty of jobs that pay minimum wage and walmart pays more sometimes. i do tip sometimes but its when they do more than take my order bring my drinks and food and hand me a bill. i dont fall for sob stories of single mother or what not if your not making money get a job that pays more than 2 dollars an hour
Taking your order, bringing your drinks, bringing your food and handing you a bill is exactly what they are supposed to do. Yours along with several other tables at the same time. Tell me, what more do you expect from them? Do you want them to sit and talk to you while you eat, perhaps take your coat and hang it up somewhere for you, bring it back to you before you leave, escort you out to your car, ride home with you, clean your house, feed your dogs and do your laundry? Or are you a MAN who expects your server to flirt with your ugly a$$ in order to earn a tip?

Besides, if no one took a server job because of the pay and no one ever tipped servers, as you don't, then there would be no one to serve at restaurants and the only dinner you would be getting would be at a drive thru. If you're fine with that then why don't you start using one more often instead of taking advantage of people.

If everyone who had a job as a server were trash, why is this person even eating out? I wouldn't want someone who I thought was nasty to be touching my plate. If I were a waitress, I would remember who the non-tippers were. I'm sure it would be hard to forget because these are probably the ones who yell and make a scene. But I would remember them and get revenge!!! I was a waitress once for 2 weeks and that was probably the most money I ever made but it was by far the hardest job I ever had in my life. I quit, I couldn't handle it. I tip far beyond 10%. I don't care what they make, if my cup stays full and I have what I need, they earned it.

I have had several serving jobs and none of them made up to min wage if the tips were bad that night some times I brought home over 200 bucks for a 5 hour shift, sometimes 5, according to the managers it is all suppose to balance out...If you don't have enough to leave atleast 5 bucks (which yes is alot for some people around here) don't go out and eat some where where you need to leave a tip...My tips start out at 5 and depending on the server, and the business of the restaurant, I know I won't get alot of one on one attention if the girl is the only server in the place while the others are on break and its running over, its not her/his fault so I take that into consideration. The amount will go up or down depending on attitude, cleaniness, and if she/he checks on me atleast once and how they treat the rest of my family.

Not tipping is tacky! If you get terrible service, that's one thing, but otherwise, leave a tip! If you can't afford (or just don't want) to leave a tip, don't go to a sit down restaurant to eat. Go to freakin McDonald's or something.

I almost always tip, but not if you do a crap job! That sounds fair to me! It's my money and I'm not tipping a crappy waiter/waitress that can't do a simple job.

Most do a decent job quit coming up with excuse after excuse to pretty much steal from someone, and yes it's the same as stealing if they provide you with what you need to eat not to baby you or flirt with you just keep your cup filled and get what you need to eat your meal. I'm not a waiter I just can't believe some people's decision making skills when it comes to how they treat people!

If they provide "good" service.. I tip. If they provide "excellent" service then I tip good. If they suck then I don't tip. I waited tables for a year and a half and it is not that hard to take care of 4-5 tables and keep their drinks full, take them extra napkins, bring their appetizers before their salads and their salads before their meals with the correct sides and take the right person the right food. And if they have a complaint then do something about it instead of saying "oh okay" or "it was the kitchen's fault" or "someone else told me they were gonna run it for me." I mean just do your job.. if you don't work for your tip then don't expect to get one. It is your JOB. When I was waiting tables the biggest problem I noticed with the other waiters/waitresses was that they couldn't take care of their tables because they couldn't quit smoking long enough to do so!!!!!! I just think it is ridiculous that so many servers give really crappy service bit still expect an a 15-20% tip. That is absolutely crazy. If you are getting bad tips or getting stiffed a lot then maybe you should take a look at yourself and the service you are providing and try to improve instead of blaming it on the customers. NO ONE has to leave a tip. It is completely optional and I think that servers forget that and that's why they are slacking so much. So if you don't like the service you receive then you don't have to tip.. how else are they going to know that they need to do better? If they suck and you tip them then they will probably just get worse.

I have been a waitress for 8 years that's how I live, feed my kids and pay my bills. I make 2.13 an hour and do not get re-inbursed if I don't make what equalsout to be minimum wage. Some nights I make over a hundred but usually fifty... But there is some days and lately will all of the coal layoffs business has been slow and sometime you leave with 10-20 dollars. If you go into a restaurant to sit down and eat then you should tip as long as e service is decent. Is it that hard to lay a couple bucks on the table? I work at a buffet and ppl think they do not have to tip. But I seat you bring you napkins and your food if u order out of the kitchen, I refill your drinks and anything else you ask of me if that's not enough I also clean your table that is worth 2 dollars on it's own especially if you have kids and I have to spend five mins sweeping up everything they have dropped please ppl be considerate, waitresses live on tips so please be good to your server they DO handle your food

I have waited tables basically since ive been old enough to work. And yes i took the job yes with the understanding of what the pay is. But when i first began working people were alot more decent than they are now also. If you dont have the money to tip thats no big deal at all. Mcdonalds, Burger king, taco bell all these places pay their employees minimum wage so you can take your cheap ass their to eat if you dont have the money to leave a good tip. Thats the first thing i check before i go eat is if ill have plenty of money left over for a good tip. As for the comments that the restaraunts make up the pay; i dont know what your cooking in your trailerpark meth lab but i havent seen a paycheck in two years. Only what i walk out the door with at the end of my shift. And just an FYI servers and bartenders have EXCELLENT memories and they all talk about how their tables tipped. Im not sure if youve ever seen the movie waiting but it is a love/hate relationship for people who dont tip.
I tip and some see me coming and they are ready to serve me as soon as I walk through that door. But I have to say I have been to some places and the server was terrible.Wasn't friendly, took 20 minutes to even get a drink, never got all that I ordered, just all around not good.I think they need to get another job somewhere else where there is no work and just pay.lol.Anyway there are some really nice and hard workers out there.Doing what is expected of them.GOOD WORK!!Keep doing your best.It will get you where you want to go.

If the service is bad..leave them a penny tip. This may help the server understand themselves better.
Just and idea!!
I learned this from other servers while I was dining..
