If people did stories on pitbulls that took 5 hour naps every day, get in the fridge and eat your whole package of cheese, and insist on sleeping on your legs every night so when you wake up in the morning you think your paralized then the number of good stories would outnumber the bad ones by millions.

Any animal, no matter the species or breed, us potential to attack! Pits are the same, so shut the heck up! Unfortunately its a pits nature to "latch" on when they do bite! Again, it's their nature! Just like border collies nip, beagles run, and little dogs are usually a one man show and end up nippy. If ppl insist on posting negative articles about pits, post a negative article about another animal attack simultaneously, and then, just as truth says, pits wont seem so bad. I've been around pits with no bad experiences, yet 2 of my kids have been bit on the face, by 2 completely different ankle biting mutts, for no reason other than petting these dogs when they jumped up for attention!

"Lock jaw" is the "latching" i suppose you are referring to? No such thing - just a myth.

<quoted text>You're right, the jaw is constructed just like any other dog's jaw. However, a pit is a terrier and terrier behavior is to hold on. I expect that is where the myth came from. I know when I have to give mine a pill I think about that myth, because they clamp shut and I have to work like the devil to get them to open so I can get the pills to the back of their throats.
