to those kids that protested n the ones that wanted to protest...i am supporting u guys to the fullest...you have every right to speak up for your rights...if this school wants this to go away they need to step up n talk to these kids and explain what is going on..there is going to be a board meeting on Wednesday and the more people the better so we all will have the chance to stand up for or kids rights

Standing up for what you think is right is great...although many of these kids were there for the wrong reasons. My kids go to SLC and I agree the policies and procedures need to be changed but we also need to go about it the right way.Lets try focusing on what we can do to make things better and not add to the problems.

I belive giving the girl 5 days suspension when the person who caused all the issues only recieved a three day suspension it just plain retarded.. SLC needs new leadership and new board members who understand the needs of the community and put the children first not there finances.

If these kids really want to protest, then their time would be better spent protesting equal rights, human rights, justice. Not something like this. If they really, really did not feel safe because they thought he was gonna be at the school that day, then why would you have went to school at all to sit outside if you felt so afraid. If they really did fear their safety they would not have showed up to school that day. Students have rights to their privacy. How do you not know that this student is a special needs student. There is a law in affect that students that are labeled can only be pulled out of the school for a certain amount of days, even if they bring a gun to school. Of course the protesters are going to get suspended. Yes they can speak their mind, but they must do it when they are not required to be in class. They are just making things worse. Now there will just be more bomb threats, because of the publicity that this thing is getting. The kids do not need to know what is going on. There is privacy laws, the same as a doctors office. The kids do not need to demand information from the administration they are overstepping the line do you know how much training and drills these professionals go through? If they believe the school is safe.....then the students are to attend the school in a normal manner. When your child comes home and gives you some half told story parents immediately start pointing fingers. The administration is the one that knows the policies, knows the laws, and knows the procedures, and are the ones that get paid the big bucks to make the decisions, not the students and not the parents. It is a public school. If you would like to be more involved try looking into private institutions.
