And what proof do you have? No BS, please.

There is too much BS about the School Superintendent and the School Committee by disgruntled people whose children are not doing well in school. It's the parents fault for not properly helping and preparing their children to become good students, or there are goof-offs who never paid attention in school or did their homework and TIME has caught up with them and they can't get a decent job because they never learned while going to school. They thought it was a waste of time as far as they were concerned, and now they have nowhere to go to make a decent living. They should join the military sevice and start over again to learn before it's too late and they may end up on the welfare rolls.

GROW UP!!!

The taxpayers should be grateful that, unlike the U.S. senate and the house of representatives, where disageement is the order of the day, there is little or no such problem among the Everett school committee members. Following the "recomendations" of the superindendent is the safest course of action. Voting to allow payment of considerable amounts of money to pay for advertising and notices to the local newspapers,in return for favorable press, virtually assures re-election. The rewards are considerable. Currently, their pay is $5500 per year and if they manage to secure a majority of votes in the city council that will go up to $11,500 per year. Also, they manage to continue to curry favor with the superintendent, who ,thanks to the passage of the Birmingham- Roosevelt education"reform" act, gives to the superintendents the exclusive power to do all the hiring and firing, with a very few exceptions,in a school system. Alienating a superintendent would greatly diminish the prospects of employment of friends and family members of that member. With these rewards, and others at stake it wouldn't and hasn't been difficult to find nine individuals who would swallow their pride and become "yes" men in order to reap such attractive rewards. For this the taxpayer should be, indeed eternally grateful and pony up the money necessary to pay for this harmony and tranquility.

What other "rewards" can a school committee member loyal to the superintendent hope to receive?

"Cash preferred" fundraisers can be especially lucrative.

The school committee members work many hours trying to improve the system. It is unfortunate, but most voters think all they do is go to meetings.
That being said, when you get elected officials like Joe McGonagle saying he didn't vote for a raise for them because some of them supported his opponent in the senatorial race that shows you where his priorities are. All he cares about is himself .And he calls himself a "public servant" !
And of course there's Sal Sachetta who can't remember what he said or did from one day to the next. What a joke. And he keeps getting voted. Hopefully under the new system we can weed them out

so which school committee member are you?
You know what - you're a little correct - they did get voted in but they also knew the salary before running.....and they still ran!!!
These positions should be paid like a sales position. When there is some improvement then you'll get a raise. When you're at the bottom of the barrel, like Everett, then you get NOTHING!

Sal Sachetta is a gentleman and he has a lot of class. He is more 'with it' than quite a few of the school committee members. He is a smart businessman. This family would continue to vote for him as long as he continues to run.

From what I'm hearing, the school committee absolutely acted so disgraceful towards him the other night. I don't understand just what happened, but what I'm hearing is outrageous !!!!

Perhaps you'll do the right thing and step down you cry baby. By the way, you will never have the class that Sal exudes, nor his intellect. You DO realize that you have jinxed yourself and your destiny by what you say. Soon you'll be wearing your underwear outside your pants and peeing in the potted plants. Take care!
