Letter from Veteran - not signed

Last week I received a letter, supposedly from a veteran, who attended Everett's Veteran Day's service at the Connolly Center. He stated that the mayor was to receive some type of award, but when his name was called, the mayor was not there - he never attended this ceremony to honor Everett's veterans. Anyone else get this letter? There was also another letter about Vietnam and that 'he' is a Vietnam vet. Surely I can't be the only one who received these letters in the mail - but sent anonymously.

Not a veteran. Didn't get a letter. But it is true that the Mayor did not attend the Veteran's Day program. It was announced that he was "under the weather" again. He was supposed to get a coin from a Congressional Medal of Honor winner's daughter.

He wasn't the only one that no-showed either. Stat Smith, DJ Napolitano and Carreiro all were absent too. Difference was, all of them had someone else speak for them. The Mayor left it up to Joe Hickey to cover for him even though Joe was already scheduled to speak.

To I Was There: Thanks for the info, appreciate it. No surprise that Smith wasn't there .... No matter how 'under the weather' Carlo was, unless really really ill, he should have made effort to be there. Our military is 'always there' for us --'under the weather or not'....

Wonder what this mail I received is all about anyway...Surely someone else received it ...???

No sick days for the Military they are always there! Someone from the Mayors office should have been there. Shunning a Medal of Honor winners daughter. No excuse here my friend.

SICK OF EVERETT: My envelope has an Essex County stamp - I suppose it means it was mailed from a town in Essex County ???

I have to look at records to see about a 5th water bill. I did get a water bill last week but not sure if it was #4 or #5....

What a disgrace (? arrogance maybe) that Carlo did not attend the Veterans Day program ... at the very least, a rep from his office should have been there to accept this Metal of Honor.

The older I get the more I appreciate our military - every one of them, every branch, ditto for our National Guard....They never get to call in sick to answer any call to defend our great country....

Did Carlo ever serve in any branch of our military?????

It's arrogance,
plain & simple.

Being Mayor is the best part time job in Everett!
