House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo, in partnership with the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, will host the 16th annual Women’s Health Forum on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the A. T. Cummings School located on Hermon Street in Winthrop.
This year Sharman Sacchetti, political reporter for Fox25 News, will deliver the keynote address. Ms. Sacchetti will speak on maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

“Women’s health is such an important community issue and that’s why I’m proud to host this forum every year,” Speaker DeLeo said.“The forum is an excellent opportunity to come together, speak with experts and get the best health information out there. Medical advice changes so rapidly that it can be difficult to keep up. I believe this event is an exceptional resource and I hope to see a large turnout this year.”

Ms. Sacchetti, an award-winning journalist, joined FOX25 as a general assignment reporter in 2005 and became the station’s political reporter in 2012. She covers a range of political topics including local, state and national news. Ms. Sacchetti holds a Bachelor of Arts from Emerson College.

Throughout his tenure as a public official Speaker DeLeo has been a leader in supporting women’s health initiatives. Speaker DeLeo co-sponsored the bill designating October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and, for the last 17 years, has led a team of Revere and Winthrop residents in the annual Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk.

The Legislature’s FY14 budget boosted funding for women’s health measures, including the launch of a post-partum depression program and increased funding for cervical and breast cancer treatments.
In addition to the keynote address, the forum will feature free flu shots and blood pressure testing.

A number of local health providers will be present to provide information and light refreshments will be served.
