Erick Naumann will be one of the greatest principals Everett High has ever seen. Truly a great guy. Maybe a misstep with the video, even though those who know him know his sense of humor, but this guy is a Grade A human being and an even greater educator, in both school and life. These kids are lucky to have him.

In light of the shootings in Newtown, CT, this video should never have been shown to the kids. It was insensitive, to say the least. Whether it was intended to be a joke or not, it was in poor taste.

I am outraged that tax dollars are going to hire such fools! He should dismissed immediately! It is just so unbelievable that a man in his influential position made such a poor decision, showing violence against women is just unjustifiable ! As a woman who was in an abusive relationship this video is frightening . Where are the police because if a student made this video the student would be facing criminal charges!
No wonder a lot of youth are going so astray with such poor examples especially in school!

You guys are pure idiots. Calm down. We've been subjected to much worse. When I saw this video i enjoyed it, i liked the humor, i like the principal, and leave it alone. Relax. If he's fired I refuse to stay at this school cause god knows what Liberal nut job we'll get. I like Erick Naumann and he's a good man.

I agree it is not a good thing, but I wonder how many parents who don't like the video are equally determined to stop their kids from watching violent TV programs & video games and from listening to music that promotes violent acts.

You gung-go 'fire his ass' people are so tired and played out. It is YOU...I repeat YOU..who is responsible for the current state of our country and society. WAHHHH, I'm offended by this..WAHHHH This made me feel uncomfortable WAHHHHH. Anyone who has half a brain or has been awake for the past 20 years knows the pop culture reference to the movie he was mimicking. Do I think it was a genius move to release it? Hell no. But do I think this in any way can be tied to something remotely close to the conceptions surrounding the Newtown tragedies? Get out of town. How about this. How about instead of blaming content and fodder and distractions as root causes of problems, how about a little accountability? If your 14 year old kid, or you, is are scared now and can't process that it's in jest and light-hearted, maybe its time to go back to step one.

Give the guy a friggen break and wait until there's actual metrics that matter before painting him with your ever-so-ready criticism brush. If he's not increasing graduation rates or test scores, fine. But take your little 'bubble' and self righteousness and toss it out the window. The answer to something that might make you concerned or unsettled briefly isn't always to remove it instantly. Jesus.

Final thoughts, before the Topix forum knee-jerk crowd roasts me.

There's no question this was more than likely a miscalculation..but the intention was anything but what people are now labeling it as. Anyone who knows the guy understands this was his way of starting to create relationships with these kids that lies outside of the normal administrator-student boundaries. This guy just flat out connects with kids in ways I've never seen most other teachers be able to do, and you can take that to the bank. Do a little research and talk to anyone whose ever been in one of his classrooms. His error was taking his very popular and personal student approach and sharing it with the world...especially this world where we wake up in the morning yearning to blame someone else for our problems. This guy is a life-changer and an impact-maker in a time where we need adults in such positions to be just that, and if push came to shove and his job was actually on the line, myself as well as hundreds, even thousands, of former students will assimilate to prevent that from happening.

Goodnight.

(and no, this is not a football player or athlete loyalty thing. Erick Naumann gave/gives every kid regardless of background or bio the same attention and value, which is probably the biggest reason why he is so highly regarded by so many former and current students)

Mr. Nauman is highly respected and admired by students, teachers, and parents. Do I think he made an error in judgement? Yes I do, because people out there are always ready to jump on someone and tear them apart without the facts. I hope students and parents show up in huge numbers to support this man, he deserves it! Maybe someone here can get things organized. Do some research all you angry people who think the answer to everything is to just get rid of someone. Your kids will benefit from a Principal like Mr Nauman.

I'm thinking he did this due to all the violence in the schools today ,to show the kids he would try to protect them, I highly doubt he did it to scare them. He has been in this school system for a long time. The superintendent was on the news as he knew nothing about it until parents started calling his office.. . I think there is a meeting scheduled,

What if a student made this video and showed it to his class? Everyone would be in a panic just like they are now! There is no reason why this video needed to be made in the first place. There is no reason why he should be shown as a leader through intimidation. Where did he get the time to make it? Clearly this principle has way too much time on his hands. And since his judgment doesn't seem to be his strong suit why should you trust him to make the right choices for kids at the high school. They should be ashamed of themselves for hiring someone like this. I am sure there are way more qualified people to do that job and MAYBE even make the school better. But why would they do that.. This is everett!
I absolutely this he should be fired! No matter how good of a teacher he "was" and how fondly everyone thinks of him. Bad judgement is bad judgment end of story.
(I understand violence shown in the home, in video games, and the news but at the end the day what I show in my home is my business and when kids go to school they shouldn't have to be made to watch something like this.)

I'm disgusted that anyone would justify this behavior from a person in a position to educate & protect . I don't know this man & he could be an asset to the school but the video was in poor taste . I think the idea of judgement was & could be threaten to some children . There are many kids who's parents don't allow violence or welcome it in there homes . I for one know many that have special needs that wouldn't interpret this video as funny but frighten . It was bad timing to say the least , I remember a student was suspended & put through an expulsion hearing over wrestling with a friend no harm intended ! It's not up for debate he may not need to be fired , but certainly put on a probation period to gain back trust of those who were and are offended . Im sure this wasn't meant to scare the kids but in the end it has ! The terminator movie which was his inspiration couldn't be watched by all viewers in its day ! This was certainly not appropriate in light of recent events in our surrounding communities . EHS isn't doing whom may be scared justice by ignoring this , he needs to regain those who felt uneasy about this trust & respect . I think FF did the right thing considering the heat making a public announcement . I certainly agree we have much larger problems with our youth my final thought is this didn't help nor contribute to solving problems in anyway . It was a waste of time & money we can only hope his imagination has a more tasteful & better was to build his relationship with these children & the families who care because we all know that's part of societies problem !

I agree with the person who said they'd bet the parents who are SOOOOO outraged let their kids watch violent TV and play violent video games that are 100x worse than this. Hypocrites. That being said, this video does show poor judgement particularly in the wake of the Newtown shootings.

Any former students or players who have ever had the pleasure of having Mr . Nuamann ('Fugi) as their coach or teacher, please take a moment to sign this. Recent events have led to him being under attack from the media and public and they are calling for him to lose his position as new principal of Everett High. We need to stand up and send the message which we all already know, and that's that there is no better person to lead our schools and our children. This guy changed a lot of our lives, and he needs us now. Let's answer the call.

PLEASE SIGN THIS, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE SHARE !!
