Oh Well wrote: <quoted text> I don't have any axe to grind. Schools educate the children. Parents raise the children. I bet when you were younger there was no free breakfast program. How did you survive? Where is the proof that the free breakfast program is producing smarter kids? Show me something and I will believe it. For now...i believe it is a colossal waste of taxpayer money. How true. Hungerford Elementary in Orange Cty. has 95% OF STUDENTS ON FREE/REDUCED LUNCHES. It has been a D- School for 10 years now!!!! How can these free food promoters say free food makes kids smarter? THERE IS NO CONNECTION, FOLKS!!!

Oh Well wrote: <quoted text> You just self diagnosed your own problem. You blame others for your own failings. Take responsibility for YOURSELF. That may also help change your mind on the schools feeding kids because parents refuse to. See how much better you feel now? Your are now on the right path toward success. Did you change yourself from EM??

Why are we proud to send food to foreign nations, but refuse to feed our own? I can't beleive half the crap I have read on this board. You would think that anyone of color, does not have a job, does not pay taxes and lives to make white people miserable. You people amaze me and sicken me all at the same time.

Can you please point out the one post that said we were proud to send food to foreign nations? Why do you make up arguments and then use them to prove your point?

where on this board did anyone bring up race? I know, when your argument fails just bring out the old race card. Use it as a crutch to absolve you of your own responsibility. In other countries there is reall suffering where people cannot afford to eat. In this country that is not an issue. Our "poor" here have a higher standard of living than most of the rest of the world's population. It is the repsonsibility of the parent to feed the kid, not the government.

Interested Observer wrote: <quoted text> YES!! That's where we can make BIG SAVINGS! I'd love to see tax payers revolt against that milking machine. I am assuming by administrators you mean the legislators, governors, and the president? School administrators do okay, but don't bring a home a salary anything like the ones I mentioned. Besides, why does the president need a salary? He lives for free, eats for free, has free healthcare, and has a pretty good retirement outlook. Why do we need to pay him at last I heard 200,000 dollars a year? I read somewhere that President Bush reported an income of almost a million dollars on his taxes this year. We are paying him why? Even without the salary he is still bringing in more than most of the people who voted for him.

I noticed Rene kept saying that we should stop feeding the administrators for free and then we would have money. Who told her they eat for free. My husband isn't an administrator yet, but he is a teacher and let me tell you he went to lunch with his principal many times and both of them paid. Currently the going rate in Alabama for a teacher meal is $3.00. They get the same amount as the students (maybe an extra breadstick on soup day), and pay more for it. He isn't complaining about that though, because $3.00 is a steal for lunch. But please don't automatically assume the teachers and administrators are eating for free, because they aren't.
