I am very surprised that the Winter Garden police were not warned by the Amazon Restaurant and Lounge that a group from Evans High School was going to be in Winter Garden. There should have been a large police presence to protect innocent Winter Garden residents from the "Crime Hills" element. We do not need events in our community where guns are required to settle any argument.

In what community would it be OK to host events ..."where guns are required to settle any argument ?" Geez

Its a shame something happened to this kid, who appeared to be doing fine up until high school, that led to this.

Anyone ever notice that in certain parts of the Orlando metro area you can actually predict the news? Certain neighborhoods, certain ethnic groups..........It's a LOCK!

I won't shed a tear over the death of this kid. He was a participant in an armed robbery before he was 18 years old. One less thug on the street to murder an innocent citizen.

A common theme from the black community. Who is going to be blamed for this?

It is unfortunate that that community has gotten so bad over the years. But you know what, until these community leaders get off their arses and stop teaching kids to practice the blame-society-or-the white-guy-game;start teaching that they should take responsibility for their own lives, make something positive out of themselves through hard work and prioritizing, nothing will ever change. Pine Hills was a nice place when I was a child. Look at it now.

"He excelled in elementary school", this is quote I've never heard before. I'm sure he was taking classes such as advanced P.E. and honors lunch.

And the mother gave birth to him "2 weeks shy of turning 15", so she maybe in 7th or 8th grade when she became a mother.

I'm not being a racist, but just a casual observer, why do African Americans always follow a pattern like this?

To all of you this is not a white or black thing race should not even be an issue at a time like this. this a time for all of you to come together as one and try to stop all the violence among all teen. come together and try to make a difference. i'am a student @ evans who's in the IB program and i'am not trying to justify the issues at evans however i feel that people should stop judging the school as a whole and start thinking about those that are doing their best to become something some day. many of us have dreams of being a doctor or a lawyer so stop with all the bad judgements

Pride and Joy?! I can understand loving your child but "pride & joy"? If you are proud of him and his actions maybe you should take a good look in the mirror to see how this happened. He didn't turn out that way all by himself. It wasn't high school that changed him but reduced parenting once he got there.

It is an issue of black or white. This is not personal. Each of us can make our own decisions. What will you say when tomorrows paper has another shooting in Pine Hills? Seems there is on almost everyday.

That's the problem with the Blacks. Anytime police show up they scream Racism. All the Police need to do is patrol the area and the "Community Leaders" complain about Heavy Handed Police Tactics. They reep what they sow.

I agree its more than a race issue, its an issue of parents being accountable for their parenting skills or lack there of. This was a little thug....why was he out this time of night, its not like he was graduating????......Mom, your lack of parenting lead to this...your son should have been at home where normal 17 year olds are on a Thursday night at midnight getting ready for school the next day.....OH WAIT...THIS THUG HAD NOT BEEN IN SCHOOL IN 2 YEARS...WHY IS THAT MOM??????????

I am disgusted reading most of the posts here...
I am so very sorry for what happened to this young man, no matter what, no parent should go through the pain of putting their child to rest, not like this. Let's all just say a prayer for his soul.
Ms. Hill, I hope you find peace in your heart one day.

Maybe you should stop being disgusted and start with realism

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Cancer

You may not be privy to every little thing that's going on around you, but so what? Crabs can't always be in control, but you don't need to feel insecure, either. Thanks to your electronic devices, you appear to be a little godlike to those who don't have the same access as you do at the moment. Just make sure that you memorise the important stuff in case the system goes down.
