City crime up in 2011 over 2010
Winston-Salem Police Chief Scott Cunningham said, "We are not pleased with the base level of crime in the city." The number of violent crimes, aggravated assaults and property crimes in Winston-Salem increased an average of 4 percent from 2010 to 2011, reversing a trend of declining crime rates in the city in previous years.
