Mr Byrd got up that morning.
Mr Byrd went to work to support his family.
Mr Byrd, we will miss you.
Mr Byrd, you will not be forgotten.

Mr Horn was partying.
Mr Horn was breaking the law.
Mr Horn was drunk.
Mr Horn is no news.

We try to forgive and we know we should but it becomes very difficult.

Z-force,

We had all figured out that Mr. Horn was dead drunk that morning when the story first came out.

But you wrong about the news, Mr. Horn was bad news waiting to happen and deadly to boot. Too bad that his family was unable to help him, some people simply cannot be helped.

Sympathy to Mr. Byrd's Family. Hope that you reach a just settlement and achieve piece of mind in due time.

The family of William Byrd will forever miss their loved one because of Mr. Horn's stupidity to drive drunk. Why is that people feel they can not call a cab or a family member to come and pick them up rather than take an innocents life?
To the family of Amick Horn: you should not cry or mourn for him because he made his choice to murder and innocent man because of his stupidity. Just watch out for the lawsuit that is sure to come now.

The family should not cry or mourn? Two sons lost their father, a mother and father lost their ONLY child and you say don't cry or mourn, your concern is a lawsuit? You know what Karen, I pray for you. I pray that God sends you compassion, understanding, the knowledge that there is a higher power and though we do not understand why tragic loss of life exist there is a reason. But the reason is not for us to understand, it is not for us to judge. Both families impacted by this tragic event have EVERY right to mourn and to cry and to celebrate the life of the love one they lost.

Horn's family will naturally cry and mourn. However, they will also have to live with the fact that their loved one took the live of an innocent man. They should not expect any sympathy whatsoever. And for anyone who would jump on Karen too harshly, remember this fool could have killed you or one of your loved ones as well. And the vast majority of us never know whether Horn's family contributed to this tragedy or not. Did any of them try to help him? Did any of his friends try to help him? So we should all learn something from this tragedy. If you have a friend or loved one who has a substance abuse problem or who appears too intoxicated to drive, do something to help them live clean and sober; do something to prevent them from driving under the influence.

I know this family personally and I'm speaking from my experiences with them. I know that Amick was not a careless person by nature. He was a good father and husband. He did everything he could to earn a living and support his young family. He will be sadly missed in the lives of his two young sons as I'm sure Mr. Bryd will be missed by his family. We all make mistakes although fortunately most of us are lucky not to have a tragic ending as he did. Pray for his boys and his wife. They have lost a very important person in their young lives. Every single person close to either family is now learning to heal from the losses and in the Horn family they must also deal with viscious comments being made. This doesn't help anyone but instead hurts everyone involved in both families. Pray for peace for them...they will all need God's help to bring them through this tragedy.

You should be ashamed...I'm sure his family understands the devastation Mr. Horn has caused for both parties involved!!! They do not need someone so hateful to remind them! They're trying to cope with what happened just as much as Mr. Byrd's family. You and everyone else should just let them cry and mourn in private without the judgment. I'm so sorry for the loss to both families. But as I said in the beginning you should be very ashamed...I'm sure you've made mistakes (maybe not as tragic) but you've made them, so let the families deal with this in private.

Thank you karen. Thank you for telling me that i cant miss cry or mourn the loss of my husband. Thank you for telling me that i should inform My two sons that they should not cry or miss there daddy. Thank u for being perfect. I also would like to thank everyone that u know, as they must be perfect also. Me and my boys already live with what Amick has done. I hate to thank that u and many more are so ignorant to think that we dont give thought to Mr. Byrds family. I pray for them all the time. we are so deeply sorry for what happend. I do not try to defend what my husband did. there is no defense for his action. All we can do is try to live with it.

Wow, how quickly we all judge each other. This was a tragic event for both families involved. I am sure that Mr. Horn did not set out with the intentions of taking another life or his own. I am sure that he did not set out to leave his wife and children without a husband and father. I am sure that his intention was not to take Mr. Byrd away from his family and friends. I am sure that MR. Byrde did not get in his car that day thinking that it would be his last. We should all use this tragedy as a wake up call that life is too short to judge others and carry negativity. We should always strive to make every moment positive for ourselves and those around us. I am truly saddened for each one of these familes and I hope that you will eventually be able to heal and find peace with what has happened and know that GOD makes no mistakes.

I am deeply sorry for both families. I have read comments that the Horn family should not mourn and should not excpect sympathy. First, anyone that loses a family member REGARDLESS of how, should cry and mourn. That is a tragic time and they will need sympathy because I am sure that Mrs. Horn or their children did not make Mr. Horn get drunk and get in the driver seat of the vehicle and say "hey now that your there why don't you go kill someone today". Please people GET REAL. His family is not in any way shape or form at fault here. Yes he is and look what happen. Nobody on here knows what type of person he was other than his family but please just give them some sympathy for their loss and don't blame them for it. My thoughts and prayers are with ALL involved.

At least the family has deep sympathy for the victims in this case unlike the family of Diane Schuler the mom who in July 2009 went the wrong way on the Taconic Parkway in NY with a van full of kids drunk and stoned. The family has never been remorseful. They continue to make all kinds of medical excuses for her condition. She killed herself three nieces her daughter and severely permanently injured her son not to mention the three men from Yonkers. Such BS
