With Obama and a Very Democratic House and Senate (hopefully not 60%), I just can hope federal spending does not increase out of control. When any party has a complete control, greed takes over. No matter if it is Republican or Democrat.

Look how bad Connecticut would be if The democrats were able to enact all of their spending plans. The economy would be better if spending and national debt could be controlled. It is impossible, with Obamas spending plans to do this.

My choice would be no new taxs, nor tax cuts. I don't mind paying taxes if they are used responsibly... But it has been a long time since that has occured.

Watching the election process and the responds of the American people. This is so scary. It seems that basically 50% of the population is idiots. If they can’t see what is coming when Obama win the election, Idiots. This is America not a small country like Kenya or Zimbabwe. Tax the small business will stop growth and kill jobs. If you people think it is hard times now, Think again this is nothing compare to what Obama has planed for you.
But there will be idiots that won’t agree with me. That is why I call them IDIOTS. They are so stupid they don’t relies they make a life decision here and can’t reverse it.
May be John McCain’s policy is not 100% but you know what you get. Talking about Sarah Palin!. What happened to the mentality of what was called great Americans? It is absolutely a disgrace that people attract a person this way. If the Sarah Palin only wants to give the American people the best. I don’t have any bonds with America and do not speak English well as you can read, But to come back to the IDOITS, May be they deserve to have a new president like Obama. America was on the top of the world for to long. May be it is time for the Idiots to live the Zimbabwe or Africa stile.
Vote Obama and be happy Idiots !!!!!

A coalition comprised of Bush haters, children still tethered to mommy and daddy, a group whom he has ignited through class warfare and a media who turns a blind eye. This sum total will chariot this man to the White House. Attempting to turn ninety five percent of us into welfare recipients, beholding to the man. No mention of ferreting out the corruption that permeates our government just a whole lot of new government...more corruption.
A man that created himself by copying JFK/MLK and remains unrependent in past indiscretions. A man that says nothing and promises everything.
What the terroists attempted to do on 911, we have served to them on a silver platter. The chickens have truly come home to roost.
I know I'm a racist because I do not trust, like and want a fraud like Obama as our President.

It is beyond stupid how Republicans feel that members of their own party do not spend money like the Democrats. You people have not been paying attention.

Both parties are going to spend your money.

What needs to change is where this money is being spent.

Currently, your money is being spent on foreign aid to countries that hate us, military debacles, and corporate welfare.

More money needs to start being spent in this country instead of outside of it.

How come the Europeans can move their people around on 300 MPH trains and we can't? How come our bridges are falling into the rivers across America? Why are VA hospitals an absolute disgrace in this country?
How come schools in your local municipality have to eliminate sports from budgets?

You clowns who get so flustered every time somebody mentions taxing business are clearly stuck in the old "trickle down" mentality.

Start spending money in this country instead of shipping it overseas and you just might start to see some beneficial "trickle down" in this country. Keep shipping it overseas, and it is not going to matter who is in office. Somebody in Asia will be the next economic superpower. Can you figure out who that might be?

Also, if you are an undecided voter at this point in the game, you're really not that bright, are you? This has been the easiest election in 28 years to decide on a candidate.

Have a wonderful day, America.

I was listening to a local Hartford radio program hosted my an African-American man. He was playing clips of Iowa voters who said they would not vote for him because he's black and he was spinning it as racist.

Well I have a question for you Mr. show host. Does it make sense and isn't it more racist to vote for someone because he's black regardless of his political views? It's what a lot of black people are doing in this country!

Obama just hasn't convinced me that his tax policy on small business and reductions in military spending is going to help us here in Connecticut. I fear many of us that build subs, aircraft engines, and helicopters may find ourselves out of work. The small businesses that support these industries and others may locate in Mexico or other countries if their marginal tax rates go up.

And finally, what do you do when things get tight in your household? Do you spend more or do you look for ways to cut spending and save money? Which candidate wants to spend more? Is that really what we want to do in this financial crisis? Launch a national health care system? Give out tax rebate checks to more people? Allow less people to pay taxes?

Connecticut voters need to really think about this before they pull the lever. Is health care and a tax rebate check worth it when your candidate's policies threaten your job and can't pay your mortgage?

Just look at all of Obama's numerous accomplishments.

He truly is something behold and I predict he will win the Moonbat State of Connecticut in November.

All of these people in the article are worried about the economy and do not want to become more indebted. Have they heard that Obama wants $1 trillion in NEW spending?! Do they also realize that while Obama wants to lower taxes for 95% of people (even though only 60-65% of Americans actually pay federal taxes, which means 30-35% will be receiving a welfare check) and raise taxes on the wealthiest 5%, these wealthiest people are the ones who invest their money in the markets to create new jobs and growth in the economy. Many of these so-called wealthy have become so because they are smart and have saved and invested their money over several years. Obama wants to pay for "tax cuts" with increased capital gains taxes, even though they've disappeared in this economic climate.

I think Obama has the best of intentions, but he doesn't have a clue. At least McCain is correct in wanting to jump-start the economy with across-the-board tax cuts. This is exactly what Reagan did, and it resulted in 21 million new jobs, a drastic decrease in inflation and interest rates, and actually doubled the amount of tax money that came into the feds due to all the investment and new income that was created. Cuts like these will bring some relief to the middle income people (classes are non-existent in America, as that suggests no potential for upward mobility) while encouraging those with a little extra to invest their money and create new jobs and growth.

In the mean-time, we also need regulation and oversight of Fannie and Freddie. We can't tell these agencies and the private sector to loan money to people who can't afford to pay it back, as we have since 1978. The free market works. Housing has collapsed because the government thought all people had a "right" to own a home, and required that loans be given to people who had no ability to pay them back. Many politicians took money from Freddie and Fannie so that new regulations wouldn't be passed, and the top two recipients were Dodd and Obama. Barnie Frank (D-MA) also had a long-time relationship with a top executive of Fannie Mae, and he was chairman of the House Banking Committee. You want change, don't vote to put Dems in power in the House, Senate, and Presidency.

The headline alone turns my stomach. Obama doesn't see taxes as a way to provide defense for the USA or build roads - he sees taxes as a way to SPREAD WEALTH to lazy no good slovenly people who WON'T work 'cause they want their free hand out. It's an Obamanation!!!! Really a guy who has never made a decent days wage, has never held down a job, a guy who has been paid by government money thru illicit agencies hasn't got a clue how to cure the financial mess we're in. He's never had to make a payroll, he's never had to punch a clock. How could anyone not see he is NOT QUALIFIED.

Both parties are spending like a drunken Chris Dodd. Sure Obama will give away the store but Bush is growing the Federal Gov't like you would not believe. Lots of companies besides Halliburton are cleaning up on DoD contracts and these small companies produce noting of value. Osama Bin Laden was right, he said he would destroy us financialy but all we ever hear is that they hate us for our freedoms. At least report why they really hate us.

Would you risk your life riding on a 300 MPH train? Bear in mind that such a transportation project would require governmental supervision. It would be built by the lowest bidder who would cut corners and buy off bureaucratic inspectors with wine and fruit baskets. Why do you think the bridges are falling down?

Anyone who thought CT wasn't going for The One before the bear market hit is a dolt. This piece is just a bit of "preaching to the choir" so that the Courant can maintain it's liberal street cred.

I am so happy to read these posts. The media makes you feel like you are all alone in your political beliefs. Obama has not won the election as the media would like you to believe. It is amazing to see these blogs in the Courant and they have not been censored yet. There are people out there that do not want to work their butts off so they can pay for all the lazy a** people that will get a free socialist ride. Not me. Go McCain-Palin. Keep those blogs coming.

Just who do you think is going to pass on the tax increases to the 95% who are getting a tax break? AND when have the DEMOCRATS Ever gone down on taxes. EVERYONE is going to pay for the tax break and the only way that companies can make up for added taxes are: Lay off, relocate or pass on the tax increase. The Socialist states of Mass and Cal f, both drown under givaway programs and they want the US Govt to bail them out. Use your head. Obama is a Socialist. Notice, the Aicorn people are dressed like the Chavez Mobs. That is not an accident.

The article wasn't quite what the headline said. If economic uncertainty was all that was driving the presidential choices you wouldn't have had any of those interviewed choosing John McCain or even be undecided. Regrettably social issues still play a big part.

Since 90% of the Bush tax cut went to the top 1%... rolling that back and even only redistributing half to the bottom 95% and using the rest for programs can easily give the 95% a meaningful tax break.

Q: "How come the Europeans can move their people around on 300 MPH trains and we can't?:

A: Try confiscatory tax rates that average 56%, plus a 15% VAT.

PS: Ride those famed 300mph trains (e.g., France's TGV) as I do roughly 4 times per year and you'll be surprised how low the patronage is. Why? most people can't afford them. Technological symbols to be sure, but also symbols of failed tax policy.

Note to Ms's Lovelace, Taft, and especially Vaughn. Barack Nobama hasn't accomplished anything other than being a pawn for a carefully crafted campaign. David Axelrod, has taken an non-accomplished Freshman Senator, with extremely questionable personal ties, a wishy washy voting record, and no accomplishment of a Legislative nature, and turned him into a ficticious presidential candidate. How can you try to elect a candidate who has never chaired a committee? Never written any significant legislation? Has made a truck load of promises that he has no chance of keeping? He has no financial experience, is the most liberal voting Seanator in the Democratic Party, and belongs to the party that crafted the current financial meltdown. Nobama has taken huge campaign contributions from the very financial institutions that cooked there books and lied to the American Public. Why weren't those campaign contributions returned to the accounts of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae? Franklin Raines raped millions of dollars in personal profit from these banks while giving away additioinal monies to Barack Nobama and Chris Dodd. Dodd at the same time, took bribes in the form of favorable loans from Countrywide, and has stood by Nobamas side through the entire election. The Democrats, in 1999 throught the CRA and Jimmy Carter started the meltdown of giving mortgages to people who didn't deserve them because they wrongly believed that people with poor credit histories and no money should own homes. It's sometimes sad that people fall on misfortune, lose their homes, and or jobs. But people with poor credit practices are doomed to begin with just because of habits they've adapted as lifes practices...Nothing is going to change the continuing misfortune of people who refuse to manage their money, refuse to work, and refuse to prioritize what they do with their money. Barack Obama, has no decision making experience, has no business experience, and wouldn't qualify for a job at any financial institution in the Country mainly because he has no history or job experience to prove that he can deliver on his promises. John McCain, tried to open the books of FM & FM, he has tried to limit the financial abuses that have taken place. He warned Congress of the present financial meltdown. He has served and proven his love for this country and his ability to lead. Think carefully before you vote for a person who promises too much. There is no possible way for Barack Obama to deliver all he claims he can. The real Meltdown has yet to come. Elect Barack Obama, start redistributing wealth, kill the desire to invest in new businesses, and spend too much money, and you have Obamas formula for disaster.
