I feel bad for the family that lost their 15 yr old son to a stupid decision to run across RT 8, but even worse for the young woman who was driving the vehicle that hit him.

RIP J.B.

Im vert shocked to hear about this. I knew the teenager who got hit, and its horrible to hear that he has been hit and killed. I hope that other teenagers will learn from this and and not make bad choices like he did.Its scary that your life can end in a matter of seconds.

What a terrible thing to happen. I feel bad for both families. The boy who was killed and the girl who hit him. May he rest in peace.

While I feel very bad for the family of the teenage victim, I do not agree with what the comments have been about teenagers learning from this. They aren't going to learn because they think that nothing can happen to them. Case in point, since the accident on Rte 6 in Bristol, has any other accident involving high speeds killed any other teenagers, yes I believe it has, Wolcott comes to mind.

I heard he may have been being chased by bullies, not playing with his friends. Guess only one person knows what really happened. Such a sad thing.

I'm a former Cub Scout Leader. We teach the children about safety first, we actually get them to say and think this to themselves,SAFETY FIRST, is a very good thing for any child to remember when they are not with their parents. Being a single Mom, my heart goes out to the family over a tragic loss. It was an innocent but dreadful game. I will say a pray for the child and family. From Westbrook, CT.

Nothing much you can do when you are driving on the highway probably 70 miles an hour (which is within the speed limit) and you don't expect to run across some crazy teenager playing games on the highway. All my sympathy goes to his family, but jee, I don't think the driver could do much, considering the circumstances. It's not a matter of decisions here, unless you have a car that has superpowers and stops as soon as you hit the brakes while NORMALLY driving fast on the highway...

Just to let all of you ignorant people who are saying this kid RAN into the road....to stop talking like you know the real story. You can't believe everything you read in the newspapers. This kid would not intentionally RUN into the road. Unless you were there don't talk. Can I ask you people something? How many of you posting these rude comments actually knew him? I hope you can sleep at night. His parents will read these comments. Think about how you would feel if it was you. Nicole you are stupid and I hope you don't have children because if you do I feel very sorry for the children that will grow up with you as there mother.

Michelle,

Well, I think that the post that you are referring to got deleted becuase I dont see anything by anyone named Nicole. It is a tragic thing that happened to this young boy. However, it seems like you are saying that you know what "really happened" and that everyone else including the papers got it wrong. If this is the case, I certainly hope that you have gone to the police with any information that you have, for his sake and for your own, since you have seemingly publicly stated that you know what really happened. Just lookin' out for you.

Who cares if he ran or walked? He shouldn't have been near the highway in the first place. He broke a law put into place to protect him.

It's sad for the parents....but they could surely adopt an Iraqi child who's parents were killed by sectarian violence.

i agree with you nicole. people shouldnt be saying all this stuff when dont really know the real story. You had to know joe to know what he went through everyday of his life. he was bullied and he didnt really fit in. Im not saying i know the real story im just saying i knew him and i know he would have never ran onto a highway. Joe was a very responsable person and didnt deserve this. I pray for there parents hope that he rests in peace
