How could the courts in Tennesee not know she was on probation. Once again, she's getting away with it. She should have been convicted in Tennessee and then extradited to Maine to face her probation violation. What is wrong with our judicial system?

I just hope nobody else has to die at the hands of that woman due to the incompetence of the judicial system.

Maybe now Amy will get her just deserts. Wonder if with Tennessee knowing what they must know now, will they change what she was given by the Tenn court? As she must have failed to tell them her past record.

I say let the Dugas family have their day. They never really have. Amy came out winning and getting away with murder and everyone knows it. I hope for the sake of everyone that this time it's the Dugas family coming out on top.

I can't believe she is still keeping the name Dugas after what she did to her husband. Talk about adding insult to injury to the Dugas family.

I spoke with the district attorney in Tennessee. Amy has been going by the name of Bowen. They were not aware her name was Amy Dugas until after she appeared in court. Once again she lied on the stand and got away with it.

Well, at least it keeps her from being anonymous in the public eye. People hear the name Amy Dugas and they're bound to give her dirty looks and lousy customer service. Not much justice, but it's something. She should be reminded every day that people know what she did and how they feel about it. Plus if you were considering asking her out on a date and you asked her name, wouldn't you run the other way once she told you?

As an adult, Amy has had 48 addresses. She's only 37 years old. It tells you what kind of life she leads. When she and Mark were married, they disappeared for two years. They were constantly on the move. It scares me to think that there will be more victims.

She has kids, right? I thought one of them witnessed her killing their father or something like that.

I didn't know a person could just call the DA and get information. Doesn't a person have to be involved in the case in order to get information or can any Joe Q Public do it?

Yes, the child testified against Amy. I always wondered how the child made out once the kids were reunited with Amy. The victim I beleive was their stepfather.

I can't imagine them reuniting her with her children. She's obviously got some mental issues that should be addressed before she should be allowed around any child.

I agree, but the system makes no sense at all. If someone is declared an unfit mother and had all their kids taken away from them, how can they go and have another baby without at least being investigated?? And after they've tried to kill the kids who were taken away from them, how can they be given back unsupervised visits just because they went on medication? They could abruptly stop the medication at any time, it's not being checked.

I was married to Mark Dugas. We were together fifteen years. I am the mother of his only child. This is how I am able to speak directly with the district attorney. My main concern is to protect my daughter from the "evil" stepmother. The past two and a half years have been a living hell not only for my daughter but for the whole Dugas family. The injustice has caused us all to lose faith in not only the justice system but the general public as well. Remember, it was a jury of our peers that aquitted her on the murder charges. They also aquitted her for assaulting a police officer. Both Amy's son and the police officer testified against her. When the verdict came in, my daughter turned to be and said, "Mom, Daddy couldn't protect himself, what are we going to do?". I still cry on a regular basis. This woman will continue to assault people and we are powerless to stop her.

Cindy, I'm terribly sorry for the hell you, your daughter and the entire Dugas family has to endure. I also feel we have all been let down and that Amy will do this again and again until somebody stops her. Thank you for sharing your experiences, and I hope you and yours may eventually find the peace you all deserve.

There isn't a day that goes by that I do not sit in amazement that this monster is still walking around. She is truly an evil twisted person that has no right to have those two children let alone be walking our streets. Mark was my cousin, I have lost all faith in our judicial system. I have no idea where the jury was, as I was in that court room every day, they should be ashamed of themselves. I only hope they are hearing all of this...They not only let us down, they let her son, that testified against her, and told the same story many times down. This woman stole my keys out of superior court when I was there for her assault charge, got caught, and because she returned them (only because they had it on video so she couldn't deny it)she got away with it!!! IS THERE NO END......I hope they hang her..........

I feel so bad for your family. It certainly was injustice not a shred of justice. How a jury could come up with a verdict that allowed her to get off scott free is hard to understand. She also should have been charged with stealing your keys. What a vindictive witch. What did she hope to do with your keys? I would also think as she did not use her real name with her recent arrest--the un sentence the judge handed here should be null. Did she regain custody of her children? I sure hope not.

I doubt there is any crime in going by your maiden name without a legal name change, but I bet there is if you do it to avoid prosecution! Let her do time here for violating probation, and then send her back to Tennessee to face the music down there. This woman needs to be kept off the streets!

She got her kids back that day she was acquitted. My cousin was only married to her for two years, and the only reason he stayed was because of those kids. He adored them, she would take off for days at a time, and she would mostly lay drunk while he cared for the children. I can't imagine the life they are leading now. Hopefully she will be brought back to Maine to do the remainder of her sentence, and at that time I am going to do everything in my powers to see that those children get taken away from her. Her own sister has contacted us and is so concerned for those children. My sweet Aunt is devastated by the loss of her son, and she is so worried about those kids. It is such a tragedy.......
