How about using some of the Homeland Security funding to pay for metal detectors in schools and university campuses??? Seems like we read about these stories so often, that we are naive to be shocked when a child is shot at school ala Columbine or Va. Tech incident.

I, too know Malcolm and both sides of his family. No disrespect to him or his family but the students of this county should not have to be afraid to go to school. I'm sure he had no intentions of harming any of the innocent kids, but, more times than not, the innocent is who gets killed. I think he has made some bad choices that he just can't make disappear. Maybe this can be used as an example for his friends and any of the others. May God's will be done.

All of this that you are talking about has nothing to do with the problem at hand. We love and wants what's best for our students. You should have been a more positive influence in his life since you claim to know him so well. I'm sure you had plenty of time to talk with him since the first incident that he was involved in.

I am sure after Malcolm's last incident he knew what the consequences were. You can not take the law into your own hands. You know and I know that in Fairfield County it is all about who you know. Yes Malcolm was a great person who would have ever thought this could ever happen to him. Parents need to wake up and start talking with their kids and learn what they are feeling and what is going on in their lives. And start making these children earning their rewards instead of just giving them what they want and make our young men work at a young age. If not when they get into the real world they will not have a clue about real work that is when our young black males go to selling drugs. All I can do is say keep your head up and leave it in the hands of the master.

All that you have said and done is good. May God continue to bless you. A crime has been committed and it has nothing to do with who his real friends are. I don't think they can help him now. We do have to suffer the consequences for our mistakes. My heart goes out to his mother and grandmother. That is why it is SO important for fathers to be active in their children's lives. It's more to it than just knowing who you're daddy is and paying the couple of dollars to Family Court. Where is the love, the bond, the little talks and just feeling loved.

I thought we have metal detectors.School has police officers everywhere.Bomb threats they take all students outside where anyone could gun them down. Now a loaded gun.Makes me wonder why they even go to school. Not a safe place here at all.Sad thing is been awful in our schools here for a long time and never changes. No wonder everyone is trying to get to other school districts.I Pray God's blessings on this young man and every student that has to pass through the doors of Fairfield Central and Middle school.

I went to High School there, graduated class of 05.. we HAVE metal detectors on both the front and back doors. They also have the little hand held ones too. In order for metal detectors to work, you have to USE them. We had to walk through them about twice a month at random. They need to use them more.
