Hey does anyone know how much the tickets are selling for at the fair and also do you know if their will be a bracelet day at the fair. We are from out of town but will be coming for the festival. Our first time to your festival. Looking forward to meeting many people and getting to know your heritage.

Once upon a time many years ago there was a quaint little fiesta in the Town of Zwolle. It was held on the quaint little main street and a few surrounding blocks. It had a quaint little parade, a quaint little craft market, a cute little beauty pageant and some fun things to do with your friends and family after dark, safe and small town things like block bands and local merchants making a few bucks selling some quaint products. No one acted or pretended to be anything Native American or Hispanic, just small town folks wanting to have a good time. And then.....SOMEONE decied that this was just tooooo much of a good thing. They incorporated the little fiesta, logoed it, bouht some property, fenced it off and told everyone to go THERE for the fiesta, not allowing folks to wander around the quaint little main street, and buy the quaint little products sold by merchants....only the people in the fenced area had any rights to the little fiesta. Now you must go "into the pen" to see anything like what it used to be. It's all just a memory and mann (blog above) has put it all in a very "quaint" honest way, "don't waste your time, it's all a joke".

Well first of all, anyone that wants to talk bad about the Tamale Fiesta is stupid. You think just bacause the majority of the population here is mixed with Native American and Hispanic blood that they are hypocrits. I think you are jealous because we actually know what our heritage holds. Oh and by the way Mann, no one asked you to ever bring your family back here, so don't. You are a visitor that we have wasted( yeah thats how you spell it, not waist) good hospitality on. So do mankind a favor and NEVER step foot in Zwolle again!!!!

You know, it really bothers me to see how people can trash Zwolle and the Fiesta, especially when they can't even spell correctly! I have been to many festivals all over Louisiana and Texas, the Tamale Fiesta is no different...just better. At least they don't allow under aged drinking go on in public and approve of it just because its a festival! No matter where you go people will show out sometimes, but that doesn't mean that everything is bad about it....apparently they need to get out more often and enjoy life!
just wondering

I have personnally been to the festival for the past several years. While I have never been there after dark, I find the early morning a wonderful time to take my children there. After the parade you have about two hours where the crowds have not yet arrived to bog down the ride lines. I have two young children and love being able to walk onto the rides one after another.

Quaint wouldn't necessarily be the word i'd use to describe Zwolle at any period during it's history.

From what i recall of the pre-Fenced In Fiesta* was a veritable Pornucopia. Oh the things that went on in those big tractors they used to have parked near the old gym.

i've only been a few times since they've tamed the fiesta not because it's been commercialized but only because festivals aren't my thing anymore. But i have to say the taming of the Zwolle festivals are probably the best thing to have happen.

Quaint. lmao

*(note...it's called the Tamale Fiesta in honor of the area's undeniable Hispanic heritage)

It's hilarious that you degrade these spanish individuals for not having the ability to speak spanish, but apparently you don't have the intelligence to speak english appropriately!! Before you judge people, you seriously need to consider using spell check and brushing up on your grammar!! Tu eres no inteligente!!! Now suck on those apples!!!! LOL

My family has enjoyed going to the tamale fiesta for several years now. We have never encounted any problems, only nice home town folks and great food and entertainment. We especially enjoy the mud bogs and the entertainment and dancing on Saturday nite. If you don't like it, don't attend, but don't talk it down just because it wasn't your idea of fun.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Virgo

If the December sales are calling you, you'd better work out a budget before you leave the house. Otherwise, you'll be tempted to use your credit card first and only consider the cost of your purchase later on. Even so, you could track down some great bargains now, provided you don't get carried away and buy items that you don't really want simply because you're astonished by the amount of money you'll save in buying them. But you'll save even more money if you don't buy them!
