I am sick of how easy it is to get welfare assistance and how well people live off of it.

I have worked offshore for the last 11 years and in those 11 years, I have paid roughly $66,000.00 in insurance premiums. AFTER paying those premiums, I have still had to cough up a copay for Dr or ER visits. Also, I have had to meet a deductible in order to have my insurance company share my costs. Finally, at the pharmacy, I cough up more Copays for medicines.

In contrast, free healthcare...Medicaid...requir es no copay, no deductible and meds are free as well. Wow! So, what I'm seeing us that hard work has very little value. I get the privilege of paying for my healthcare and the healthcare of those less motivated to get off of their asses.

As with anything, there are exceptions. I am not so closed-minded that I don't believe that there are legitimate needs for this assistance. Unfortunately, instead of being used to get someone over a rough patch in the road, it becomes a way of life.

I am now single mom and I have never been on any assistance and now I am in dyer need of some atleast for a couple months till I get back on my feet and can't receive any.... I go to try and get section 8 housing and was told before I could tell anything "we don't have any housing" I call my friend (African american) and tell her she has her own home already, she goes to the same place no more then 30 minutes after I did same woman I saw told her to "come in Darlin sit down and tell me your situation". She handed an application and pretty much forced into filling it out. However I could not even get an application to fill out, and my children and I was living out of a vehicle. It'd alright though, because the good lord has me and my children in his hands and we will make it one way or another

My Ex. was on unemployment for one month his whole nine years of working (hes 24) and we had to prove that he searched and put in an application at least three times a week. The unemployment was his money, he should have been able to draw it till it was gone if he wanted to with no questions asked. Anyway I think it should be like that for people who receive any government assistance. They should prove they made three job searched a week, only be able to be on assistance for one year, (over fair amount of time for someone to get on their feet) , take drug test, background checks, and have surprise visits four times a year to make sure nothing is out of place and lies was not told.

If what you say is true, then you need to call the Winn Parish Police Jury office and complain. The police jury runs Section 8 housing. Tell your story to the lady in the jury office, her name is Karen. If this doesn't help go to the next police jury meeting and complain.
