WASHINGTON—Calling it a "poorly conceived and irresponsible piece of legislation, pure and simple," President Obama made a public pledge to voters Tuesday that, if reelected, he would fight to repeal the recently upheld Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

In an address to the nation broadcast live from the White House, the president promised voters in sharp, forceful terms that the very first act of his second term would be to "strike down this unjust and unconstitutional law," which he said would place "an unacceptable burden on hardworking Americans."

"Citizens going to the polls in November should know that if they reelect me, they will not have to face the consequences of this bloated, oppressive act," said Obama, who called the legislation a "906-page monstrosity." "This law isn't merely an attack on our current health care system. It's an attack on our core values and what it means to be an American. And mark my words, an Obama administration will support those values, not destroy them."

"Frankly, this toxic plan is just another needless tax to pay—nothing more, nothing less," Obama continued. "It's harmful and it's wrong and I won't stand for it."

Blasting members of Congress for "voting to vastly overstep government authority," Obama said that under his leadership the federal government would not "reach into the pockets of honest taxpayers" to pay for the extension of health care benefits enacted by the legislation.

Obama added that if the plan goes into effect, it is "100 percent guaranteed" to bankrupt the United States within 10 years.

Proponents of the health care act have yet to respond to the president's numerous criticisms of the law, which he claimed would increase insurance premiums and force every American to receive subpar medical treatment.

"I'm going to say it in plain English: I will not let Obamacare stunt job growth, drive up the cost of health care, and cripple our economy—I simply won't let it happen," the president said. "Come November, should I be reelected, it will be my great pleasure to walk into the Oval Office, take my pen in hand, and sign a big 'adios' repealing this grave threat to our country's future."

Added Obama, "That is a promise you can take to the voting booth."

He is nohting but a tax and spend liberal. Every word out of his mouth is a lie. He will go down as the worst president we have ever had. It's not his fault, he wasn't qualified when he was elected. I just hope that we correct this mistake and vote him out.

Why don't he repeal it NOW? Inmy opinion, he's not sincere; Can't trust him!

You're absolutely correct. Let's vote Romney in after, he's a wealthy repiblican with a number of big business contacts & interests. With any luck he'll orchestrate wars in Iran, North Korea, and Syria. This will create jobs in the U.S. Armed Forces, Kellogge-Brown & Root, and a number of private "security" companies.

All Obama did was to end one war and promise to end another.

RON PAUL is for constitutional government, personal liberty, lower taxes, cutting government spending , doing away with un-needed agencies, stop trying to police the world, bring our military home and go to NO war without congressional approval. Make our military strong on the home front. He is an economic expert and knows what needs to be done to try to prevent our money from collapsing. We are on the edge of the cliff now and no matter what , time is late and we will have some tough economic times ahead before it can be turned around. But he has the knowledge needed.

Are y'all really upset over this story? And, if so, did you even look at the source? It came from The Onion, gang. C'mon now. If you're not familiar with The Onion you may want to check it out so you'll know in the future that it's NOT real news. Just damn funny.

Where do we get "real" news? Give us a good source of real news, please. I'll be awaiting your answer, if you have one, I will check it out.

Fox news has the most fair news. Both sides always. NBC, ABC, CBS are in the tank for obama, who is a total failure. I'm talking about the news on fox, not the opinion shows, like orielly and hannity, both are bias to the right. Just the regular news.

You are so right. If he really wanted to show how he cares for America he would repeal it now! He just wants something from us and we will still be on the losing end of this crap. My heart breaks to see the way America is headed.

There IS no source of "real" news anymore. Perhaps I should have been more specific. The Onion is a satirical news source. A parody of the news, if you will. Meaning no one should get their knickers in a bunch over a story from The Onion. Better?

What does Ron Paul have to do with my original post? It's simple: the initial post made by ElephantFly is from The Onion, a well-known satirical news source. Satire: the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues ( oxforddictionary.com ). All I did was point out that the post, from a satirical news source was nothing to get excited about because what the story was describing DIDN'T HAPPEN. That's part of the problem in this country--so many people take any information presented to them as fact and never bother to investigate further.

Are we on the same page yet? And by the way, I'm quite familiar with Ron Paul as I voted for te man in the last election. Geeeez!

Sorry for the misunderstanding about your post. Your original post was posted without a reference of whom you were addressing and was right after my post. Now with your explanation, I suppose we are on the same page. Thanks.
