I think that Judge Derr is going to show Mr. Little that no one, not even Albert D. Little, is above the law. I wonder why the sheriff released this man from jail before the prescribed 'time'?
It would be kinda funny if Sheriff Little had to spend a little time in the "Crossbar Hotel".

So! What do you think? Do you think the judge will put the 'high sheriff' in the slammer for a couple of days, or will he order him to pay a fine? Or possibly both? I think that what matters is if Sheriff Little has the authority to release anyone that has been sentenced. I do not know the answer to this question, but I think that he does NOT have that authority. April 6 we whall find out.

This past week, I saw a picture in the Winn Parish Enterprise (aka the Weekly Wiper) of people who 'spoke' at a Rotary Club meeting. There was our esteemed District Attorney, Chris "hit and run" Nevills, and Judge Derr and Sheriff Little standing side by side for the photo. Now, that must have been rather awkward. Oh well,,politics in Winn Parish; same ole crap. It depends on who kisses whose derriere. Again, I ask for the opinion of others. What do you people think is gonna happen?

Can he do it in a single bound? I would love to see the "Little Leap". The only problem is that we don't have any tall buildings in Winnfield. Maybe he could leap from the water tower close to Lafayette street to the courthouse!

don't agree with what the sheriff did with releasing a person after serving a few hours. but (and i hate that word) if you see an attorney, at 10:54 am and leave the attorneys office at 11:09 am you are charged for 2 hours of law work. sad, but true if you enter a jail cell at 11:47 pm and leave at 12:09 am you have served two calender days. that may be just 22 minutes, and that is pure moooooooooooooooooooooooooo @#$*!!!!!! I DON'T agree with it, but it happens alot more than the public knows. why are so many STATE prisoners released at 12:01 am, becauase it's a new day. it'll be interesting to see what happens with the judge.

I predict the judge won't do anything. He often overreacts then backs down. The sheriff will continue to do as he pleases. Remeber, it's never, ever his fault.

Just like the school secretary who never served the first night in jail, yet got a letter from the sheriff saying she had completed her sentence in full.

Same old same old.

my vote is on derr doing the right thing, but they may work a deal before court.everyone that gets sentence from now on should ask the judge for same deal that bodie gave the gut that was imprisoned for 22 mins, instead of two days.MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It will probably be closed session. Any judge can do that when he wishes.

Why couldn't the good judge have just called him and asked him why he released the person? Could it be that somehow this little "procedure" is a profit for someone close to one or the other? hmmm.
then what

Are the taxpayers treated so well? When we break a law or have a contempt of court charge, what happens? It should be no different for a public official than for a taxpayer. Do you think they should have special treatment?

You are probably right. Just Look at all he has done in the past and got by with nothing being done about it.

It doesn't really matter if the judge holds the sheriff in contempt. All of us minus a very few who voted for the bum hold him in contempt. If he's fined he'll pay the fine with public funds anyway. I wouldn't feel good if i had a whole Parish holding me in contempt. One term germ..Adios ASAP!

FYI:
"Vote NO on all sales tax requests" Gasoline going back over $3.00 a gallon this summer, maybe $4.00.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Add to gasoline prices going up , groceries, health insurance, medications..everything, and yet we are stuck with two taxes for the next 10 years, but only because the laws of Louisiana allow non property owners to reach their hands into the pockets of property owners and take money from our pockets.

To all and vote, are you kiddin me. What has Sheriff Little done that is soooo bad? The 2 taxes that passed are just renewals of taxes that have been around long before he got in office. Those taxes passed because a majority of the people in Winn Parish voted to keep them. So if you gonna blame somebody then blame the majority of the people in Winn Parish. He sure didn't have anything to do with gas prices going up, groceries, health insurance, medications or Johnny Ray getting reelected. So get off of Bodie's Case and let him be the Sheriff he was elected to be. And as far as him being held in contempt for letting a convict out a day early. What about all those that the judge doesn't send to jail and gives supervised probation to. I think it is a judgement call that has to be made on a case by case basis. I know of one creep that has been arrested over 50 times for one thing and then another and when he gets arrested he may spend a week in jail, they make him a trustee and he gets out only to be back in jail a few days later. He should be sent down the river to the big house for being a habitual offender, but the court system keeps letting him off, not only in Winn parish but in Grant Parish too.

Thanks for asking. It bears repeating lest it gets shoved further under the rug. He stole $10,000 from us taxpayers when he was assessor, he claimed two homestead exemptions for himself at the same time, he defrauded other government bodies of the proper tax because of that, he raised the assessment on some properties beyond the legal limit without notification to the owners, he raised taxes after the legal time limit to do so, thereby depriving landowners from the proper appeal, he didn't tax some of his friends. As sheriff he used our tax money illegally to promote the sales tax, personally in his business he didn't pay his legal debts, and he spent taxpayers money at restaurants without proper documentation to back up the charges. Those are things that pop in my mind at the moment. Besides he was in contempt of court.
One of the taxes would not have been on the ballot if he had not put it there. H didn't' choose to reduce the millage during these hard times when gasoline prices are going up, insurance is going up, groceries are going up and people are losing jobs. Little got more money by reassessment that any other sheriff has had, yet he asked for the same millage as it had been during years of prosperity. He gets a higher salary than any other elected official in the parish and has spent more money than any other sheriff. Oh, he also lies.
I had previously explained why the tax passed-state law allow owners of no property, owners of non taxable property to take money out of the pocket of taxable property owners. We have too many free-loaders in the parish to defeat an Ad Valorem tax. You notice the sales tax was defeated by a large margin when money was to come out of their own pockets

Yeah he might have been a bad tax assessor, but I asked you what has Sheriff Little done that has been so Bad. All you have told me were things that were allegedly done while he was assessor. Quit whining and let him do his job now!!!!
