In the Winnfield paper, front page no less, on January 23, 2013, there was a Charles Crain article entitled, "Gun Control: What does it mean for Winn?" It stated that "Next week, we begin a new series of articles surrounding the issue of gun violence in Winn Parish, and we'll talk with local officials, gun sellers and gun advocates to discuss the attitudes surrounding these new developments." What happened to "the new series"? Did "officials" put a stop to it? Did I miss something? Or did Charles "forget". Anybody else want to know?

I don't think going house to house to take guns is a good idea. I think a more stringent background check and a waiting period is good enough.

I don't think civilians need rocket launchers though. Up in Seattle at a gun buyback, the police received a stinger missile launcher. It didn't work, but still, a civilian shouldn't be able to get their hands on that kind of ordnance.
wonder why

Because there's no need for a high explosive anti vehicular weapon. It's not made for sport or hunting. It's only built to kill other people.

You can have all the small arms in the work. AK47s, M16s, MP5s, all that fun stuff. But I draw my line of tolerance at bombs and missiles.

Give me a good reason why anyone in a civilized country needs a rocket launcher or an M67 frag grenade.

Collectors may want to have that in their military gun collection, and being inoperative makes it legal, besides he could never get ammo for it. Too many guns out there now for criminals to get one way or other. Taking away guns will only result in law abiding citizens guns being taken. The background checks are the failure of the system. They should strengthen them and actually do them. The idea of the 2nd amendment is for people to be armed in case someone comes along who wants to be King instead of president DIG? not for purely hunting. When Czechoslovakia was disarmed, the Russians walked right in. That won't happen here by a rogue president.

No gun owner is asking for the right to own bombs or long range missles. But to me they have taken our money, via O'Bama care etc. Now they are working on our guns and ammo. If they just get the ammo the guns will be useless. Or they will tax it to where the average person will not be able to afford it. When they get your money and your guns see what is left. You are a dead duck that AFLAC won't be able to help. And read up on the drone situation. Now O'Bama is wanting to be able to have these things at his disposal to even use on American citizens that he deems dangerous. Come on, it does not take a rocket scientist to see where all of this is headed.

Does anyone know how Cranford Jordan and the city chief feel about enforcing gun confiscation, registration, and other restrictions of the second ammendment? I didn't see anything in the Winnfield newspaper either.

I think the people who have these guns in their homes and know their loved one is unstable should be charged. In most of the cases where these shootings occur the family knows he person is unstable. Taking guns away from law abiding, responsible citizen is not going to stop any of these horrific shootings or street murders. It only gives the thugs and the henchmen in Washington D. C. the green light.
If you notice they have not volunteered to give up the armed guards they or their children have at their school. Like everything else that bunch does, it applies to everyone but them.

The Founding Fathers didn't amend the Constitution for "sport or hunting." The Second Amendment is about allowing the people the means to protect themselves from the police when the police are either violently violating the Constitution or attempting to enforce despotic laws.

The people should be able to arm themselves just as much as the police are armed.

I'm not sure that anyone (civilian, police, or military) in a civilized country really needs a rocket launcher or M67 frag grenade.

The citizens of the US are permitted by the Constitution to own every type weapon a tyrannical government owns. Cost of such weapons makes this prohibitive, but if a group of citizens did have the means they do have the right. A tyrannical government wants to ignore the Constitution. That's what makes it tyrannical. The government has drones. How are the citizens suppose to counteract them?

Where in the constitution does it say you can have military grade ordnance? Our country is too big and has far too many civilians and too few policy/military to disarm the populace. It won't happen. The math alone won't allow it. But so many are almost wanting another civil war.

Where in the Constitution does it say that the federal government can prohibit the people from having military grade ordinance?
