I will tell you what I do myself .. it sounds crazy, but let her name herself. She will, and it won't take long.

What I mean is, once you have been around her for a little while, it will become obvious what her name should be. It may be some cute little thing she does, or a little quirk she has. It hasn't failed me yet!

Good luck with her.

I'm glad you're happy with your dog, but would you please clarify your statement?

There are some reputable breeders out there who do it for the love of the breed, but sadly, many, many of them are just in it for the money. They breed as many litters as possible, not caring much about the health of their breeding stock or the puppies. Please don't support backyard breeders or puppy mills (sometimes they are the same thing).

Long story short, if you are determined to buy a purebred puppy (as opposed to rescuing one from a breed-specific rescue, where you can actually save the life of a purebred dog) be sure and reserch your breeder. Make them show you the parents. Don't order a dog online without a home visit. Educate yourself about your chosen breed so that you will know an unhealthy dog when you see it. Don't fall for scams like "teacup," which we all know is shorthand for "runt." Getting a dog from a breeder *does not* guarantee its health.
.
DH and I rescued a purebred dog that had 4 life-threatening illnesses in his first 2 years, all genetic, all due to poor breeding. Don't buy a puppy, fall in love with it, and then have it die on you from crappy genetics.

Be careful.

Actually I got both my Yorkies from reputable breeders...I knew the person and they don't have kennels their Yorkies live in the house with them...well taken care of...shots and everything on time. Before I bought the first one I went on line and read everything I could about them, bought books on them and talked to several Yorkie owners. I learned they are hypoglycemic and what to do about that...etc. I went to one of those backyard puppy mills and DO NOT approve of the situation there but I'm not saying I wouldn't have bought a puppy just to rescue him from that situation. I did buy a miniature horse to nurse him back to health from neglectful owners and do not regret it one bit...what I am saying about that being the best way to buy...I have checked with breeding kennels that wanted $1500.00 and up and got the same quality from an independent breeder AKC registered pups for $700.00 to $800.00....

Thank you for the clarification. There are reputable breeders out there, and it sounds as though you are working with one. Good job educating yourself on the breed, as well. I wish more pet owners were so conscientious.

I hear what you're saying about purchasing puppies from backyard breeders to in order to save them. It's so tempting, but ultimately, it just encourages the breeders to continue what they're doing. It's so unfortunate.

Good luck with Sophie.:)

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Pisces

The last thing you want to do is to picking over every little thing. Instead, you have one eye permanently on the clock and you're trying to cram as many activities into the day as possible. This will be good fun and you'll enjoy keeping up the momentum, but beware of a possible tendency to become reckless or to try to cut corners in order to save time, because this will be self-defeating in the long run.
