Okay, there is a scam going around that people need to be aware of. I got a call from a foreign man who said I was a very wealthy lady because I won 2.5 million dollars. He gives me a number and the last three digits of a ten digit number is 628.(funny, huh?)He says he will be at my house at 4:30 and he is the one who gives the money away that is shown on TV' and his name is Donofan. He is talking foreign so its really hard to understand him. He tells me there is an insurance fee on the money and they are going to help me pay that fee. They are going to pay four hundred dollars and I need to pay two hundred dollars. I need to go to Walmart and get a money pack (I guess card) for that amount. I tell him that the only way I believe him is for him to call the police and have them call me and that way I know it's real. He says no one is to know my business and repeats that alot. He gives me a cell phone number to call and I find out on the Internet it's a cell phone from Jamaca. I call the sheriff's office and the lady working there is not really concerned about it that much. She tells me to come up there and write up a complaint. I was concerned about it because I did not know if someone was going to show up at my house. My home has been burgarized three times since we moved here in 1990 and you never know about some people. Donofan called a couple more times about an hour later but I didn't answer. I feel like the Sheriff's office should be more compassionate when someone calls their office. Being too blunt or uncaring makes a person hesitant to call. Now, I have to say she did say they had a potential suicide, but if this was so why not say that they would be glad to call you back later because they have an emergency right now. I believe in the Sheriff's dept. but geez, I don't know...why not be nice?

On the money card from Walmart it must be you scratch off the back of the card and give him that number. Then he has access to your money without seeing you.

Nothing the sheriff can do. Get rid of ATT and get vonage and an out of area phone # and you'll be a lot better off. vonage #s aren't even listed. You're a fool for even talking to the scammer. Aint nothing free, NOTHING! get used to it. You can make a scam report at www.fbi.gov who handles those things.

That's fine if the Sheriff can't do anything about the scam itself, I understand that. Like I said, I KNEW IT WAS A SCAM but I didn't know if someone was coming to my house or not. I think I would get in touch with the Sheriff's office or police for that because you never know. If someone tells me they are coming to my house at a certain time I would have the police with me. That was my thoughts at the time.

He sure as hell don't want to call me, and if he comes here he'll need the protection, not me.

The Sheriffs Office used to investigate those crimes and notify the public! Apparently not now. Maybe they don't know what to do....
