This thread started as a question about age of consent laws.

Even though that was off-topic (since the starter of the thread was clearly talking about earthly, criminal law), I asked for a citation of the Biblical prohibition on people under 17 having sex with each other.(I am annoyed when people infuse the Bible with their own prejudices.) None was provided.

I don't know why you would want to delve into my personal sex life. People should be able to discuss the law or the bible without personalizing everything. However, I'll go ahead and set your mind at ease:

The primary issue was whether there was any Louisiana law prohibiting sex between people under the age of 17.(If there isn't, then the point made by the starter of this thread is mostly moot.)

The secondary issue was whether there was any biblical law prohibiting sex between people under that age of 17.(That issue was only raised because someone avoided the primary issue by making an incorrect biblical reference.)

Do you not see that an age-neutral prohibition on sex outside of marriage does not address either of the issues at hand?

That prohibition doesn't restrict sex between 16-year-olds any more than it restricts sex between 40-year-olds.

If that's the best you can come up with, then do you mean that, so far as the bible is concerned, there is no moral difference between underaged pre-marital sex and adult pre-marital sex?

I know that the typical Winnfield Topix poster doesn't think with the precision of a Talmudic scholar, but it seems like they could understand the difference between a ban on premarital sex and a ban on pre-17 sex.

What does your physical age matter when you have sex? So what if you can have a period at age 9 or 10 line "cave girls"... its your mental age and maturity that matters when you start..a 9 or 10...15 year old is no way mature enough to carry off a full relationship like that. Which is why you see so many babies having babies and then left alone with them!
